Jon Van Caneghem's new company, Trion, has revealed their new project and announced a partnership with the Sci-Fi Channel. The first game will be a fantasy massively multiplayer online game. Trio CEO Lars Buttler told Shacknews the following:

"Trion's San Diego studio and our platform and publishing groups in Austin and Redwood City will work closely with Sci Fi's creative team in developing a dynamically evolving, massively social, connected entertainment franchise across multiple formats and platforms of choice. We are laying the foundation for an exciting new co-development model between top cable entertainment and lifestyle brands such as Sci-Fi and connected game and interactive entertainment companies such as Trion."

Buttler made the headlines last year when he said that "the days of the console are numbered," and "one more generation of gaming consoles and that is it." For more information about the project, check out this interview at Gamasutra with Lars Buttler and Jon Van Caneghem.

I see you - when I turn away
I hold you -when my hands are full
I kiss you - when you aren't here
- Freedom -
Never shall you be more than a name to me

I actually MUST buy this MMO Big Grin
Although there aren't any hard facts, I'm sure that this game wil be great - as every game made by JVC. He's an alive legend and now, with no 3DO limitations and with great team nearly nothing is impossible for him. I hope that one day Trion and Ubi will co-operate, creating the 'Might and Magic Online' or something like this. As I remember, possiiblity of creating this game is one of the biggest JVC's dreams.

Let's pray.

The more I hear of this one, the closer I get to the "must" stage Big Grin

And that JVC got to work on a MM online is something I can join you in praying for! And I remember reading JVC dreamed of doing that back then, even before WoW, but 3DO didn't think there was a market for it... However, I've also read that HoMM IV and MM IX, under 3DOes rules, made him abandon MM althogether and his dreams of continuing the saga Frown

Might and Magic MMORPG would be awsome. The world M&M developed in previous games is huge it would be awsome to see that world in a MMORPG.

Also on a comment about 3DO. It may have been strict, it may have dropped the ball on the MMO idea, and it was never the quality of Ubisoft but HOMM 3 and MM8 were great games. Ubisoft has in my opinion yet to find a way to properly incorperate the genious of the M&M games with the latest technologies.

Though I think New Word Computing did the best creating HOMM 1 & 2 and Might and magic 6 & 7. Though this could all just be my opinion on the topic.
