Nothing Crying we aren't a country yet, an I would rather claim I was from Iceland than admitt that I'm actually Danish according to the law Sad Eyes

As I'm from the Faroe Islands, wich is an autonomous region in the Danish Kingdom.
( In Danish: Kongeriget Danmark for så vidt angår Færøerne)
So our contestants would be the Danish one, wich is a pink-obsessed transvestite singing "I'm Your Drama Queen".
You do the math...

*stops falling*

A European song contest. First the countries make up new songs indepentley, and the groups with new songs compete for winning in that country. Then they take the best singer from each country and pit them all together. The winner is decided by phone voting, and each country gives an equal amount of points, nomatter the size.

The whole contest is a huge load of ****. The amount of musicians/bands who have a decent reputation and participate in it is negligible. It's mostly people that are starting or can't place their songs anywhere else because they suck. Sure, my own country's song - sucks, and so do most of the other countries. I can think of maybe 2-3 good songs that I've heard on the contest in the last couple of years. And the voting? Ridiculous. Balkan countries always give each other best votes, and almost never receive any from Nordic or Western European countries. Same goes for them. You always know who is gonna vote for who and the whole telephone voting is a terrible idea IMO because the average Joe just votes for a)his country b) the one who has the best choreography.

It just.. blows. Props to Helena from Greece, I like her and she has had a good career before ES, but most of the other stuff is garbage.

Totally agree with Inf. The "competition" has gone down in the last 10-15 years, with votes so embarrassingly biased (depending on the relations between countries) I would have never imagined for an international contest.

I wasn't a lot of higher before anyway.
It's a nights light entertainment(some are so horrid that they leave me choking with laughter, and that is entertaining by any means).

It's nice that smth like Eurovision exists. And yes Balkan countries vote for each other and Baltic too (All that neighborly spirit) but still you never know the score and who will win Wink 'cose it's the small votes that make a difference.
But I agree that Eurovision is **** but it's nice to have smth like that organized and maybe some nice songs will emerge eventually Roll Eyes

Well, if you look on Eurovision like on sports contest, then it is OK. I realy don't expect some musical quality in Eurovision, but that contest thing...

But Lordi song Demonic was nice.

We will have song in Italian, I hope italians will vote for itWink

I'm in baltic country, and I can't say that we vote just for another baltic countries. But our russians will wote for Russia. I have heard, that some time ago there was posibility in Latvia with mobile phone to vote in Estonian votingWink

Ugh, there is so much to complain about the contest...one major one is that the participants are selected via text-messages/calls, which means that teen-idols are competing for the winning place in Finland. Why? Because a single teenager uses 20 votes for their favourite while "normal" voters use only one... That means that in Finland the only contestants ever to follow are from Idols-show or something like that, agggrg. Our this years contestant does have a beautiful voice, but that doesn't cut it. The song is something everyone has heard a million times - the producers are supposed to be "hit makers" Blaah. Makes me puke.

What I like about Eurovision contest is a) atleast there used to be a lot of music influenced by their countries history/heritage/mythology (go Norway!!). b) I enjoy hearing songs in other languages, for example France and Russian are beautiful and last years Bosnia-Hertsegovina song, Romania as well, and there are plenty of others c) There are always some crazy contestants that just make you laugh, like Ukraine this year Wink

Oh and by the way, the contest has always been like that neighbours give some points for each other.

Semifinals are 10.5 and finals 12.5, so a month still to go. I guess Edo is from Latvia, hmm Smile

A week ago we went through Baltic countries with my friends, but only stopped to Riga for 5 minutes :S Because we have a friend in Vilnus so we had free accommodation there.

But here is something for you who think there is no good music in Eurovision
Go Serbia - Molitva!!
