Nothing scary or chilling in the series? Story writing poor? Perhaps you've been playing something else; Armageddon's Blade is full of war, torture, impalement and death without the retarded dialog of Dark Messiah (the game that "tried" to be darker than everything before).

Everything after Heroes 1 has had good stories, except H5.

I'd have to agree with alot of things on here: Heroes 3 was the best heroes 5 is to "childish".

Heroes 6 needs to be very similar to 3. Make some new units and keep some of the features from Heroes 5 to keep it feeling new though.

Heroes 5 came close they just kind of slipped up by doing things like having silly looking units and I didn't feel like the castles were equally as powerfull. (Necromancers way too strong)

I also thought they took the different magic classes too far the regular "fire water air earth" from Heroes 3 was good enough.

I hope somebody making Heroes 6 reads this and the many other comments and makes Heroes 6... just plain awesome.

I have played ALL HOMM... but HOMM V and IV have been trashed cuz the gameplay is way below par compared to HOMM IV AB the features i love in the game is the numerous races, the hotseat function and the RMG this game simply is the best version of HOMM (hate the owerpovered bonuses of combining the artifacs u get in SotHR) HOMM IV the gameplays just sucks the leveling of your heroes is just sucky and the tiny maps just suck. same goes for V PLZ ppl just make a new copy of IIIAB add a couple of races, and upgrades for the mobs and make maps that are twice as big as the XL w. underground and for Gods sake make a RMG. i'm not buying any HOMM if it doesn't have a RMG. sick of buying a game that only gives u 20 hrs of gameplay... till HOMMVI/VII or VIII comes with RMG im sure that I and none of my friends will spend the G

If UBI makes this next episode I hope they are able to see what most of you have mentioned. The graphics are very important now a days but the storyline can always be what it needs to be. The progression of units and character have gotten a little out of hand but they also help create an unstopable army to a point. As usual AI complexity needs more diversity. I do however think that the idea of having a WoW atmosphere is a complete fad and waste of time I will never buy into. (count me out) Quick question. Does anyone think there may be a console version possible in the near future or do the controls overshadow the game integrity?

They are currently working on some MM related RPG game according to pretty reliable rumors. No one knows what that is or if the rumours muight be confused with HoMM VI, but that game is set for consoles too. I would guess HoMM sooner or later will go that way too.

Everyone likes HOMM 3. Do you guys realize, that this is the only game of the HOMM series with random maps?
All I say is that no matter how they make the game, it is mandatory to implement a random map generator. This makes the game different every time you play it. If HOMM 3 had just 20 or 50 or even 100 maps, I am not sure I would have played it for more then 10 years...
I believe everyone would agree..

I am delighted with the news of Heroes of Might and Magic VI becoming a reality! I have seen other posts disparaging the previous version (V) and I disagree with all my heart. The more I play V, the more I like it! Previously III was my favorite game (except maybe for Might and Magic VI), IV was interesting but definitely not as good, but V is great, and I hope VI follows in its footsteps. Granted, the dialog and cartoonish figures in the "movies" weren't the best, but they did the job of setting the scene, and how much time do you spend with them anyway? Heroes V started out with some irritating bugs, but they have been fixed for a long time now. I went back and played III and IV again, and confirmed my judgement - the only way I could see that you would prefer them is if your computer isn't fast enough for V.

As 2D is making a comeback, I think they should bring the series back to 2D or meybe even 2,5D.
It worked better in the second dimension

so i just did a search for HoMM and i'm amazed that so many people think HoMM3 is the best! i think it's the best, but i never knew so many others thought so too.

if they make a 6, which i hope they do, they should start with 3 and go from there. i once started to play 4 and was so annoyed at how different it was i stopped. i own but haven't bothered to play 5 yet.

HoMM is such an unique game that i hope the adventure never ends. If you took 3 and added better graphics, even better stories, more characters, or the ability to chose what heroes join you on your quest, not just random tavern chosen ones, and maybe more castle types. In 3 there was, what 6 types? Maybe go with 20 available... some unlockable?

How good was 3? i've never finished it. i have a million games saved half way through, but something always comes up that stops me from finishing. so instead of picking up where i left off i've simply restarted from the beginning - still not bored, still want more. All i've really ever played is 3 and i could play it forever.

HoMM 5 does have random map generator....and homm6 should have it too... its a must for hotseat play... and it should have different templates to choose from. Most template we used was dragon pass... where every player have its own land and its borders...

I allways play homm series in HOTseat mode or Multiplayer (in homm5) and main problem of HoMM5 is AI.
-AI is not chaleging at all in moths of ingame game time they still dont attack players ar even try harder to cap resources or collect all his armies and crush you or at least intimidate you... even on highest difficuulty ... and have hard time on watter terrains
-second most irittating is AI is taking most of the time to complete his turns, And its really annoying to wait 5-15 min just for you to press end turn button and wait another 5-15min (or more)

-I agree with some of you that graphics are too cartoonish (icons, spells...)I would also like to see more dark , art style icons and graphics...

-everyone (game devs) is naturally assuming that 3d is next step from 2d... but its not..
-3D is ok but i would rather see this game to have fixed camera 2D position (maybe have 4 buttons for look from left, right, top, down for hidden resources)

-i agree, build up from HoMM3

-PPL Dragons are awsome... i would like tons of dragons in homm series Big Grin

-Lots of inbalances in homm5... on one side everything depends on initiative and who smites first, mentoring, upgrading creatures to cavalires, runes, and many other

I and my friend are fans and are playing homm series a long time and really dedicated time to uncover all game mehanics if UBI dont know which direction to take we could help you ... we have a lot of ideas for new homm6 and can point out all or most problems in series...

I love Heroes (haven't tried 5), and would love to see more -- in the traditional fashion. It is NOT what so many of today's games are: too dark, too cartoony, full of lame 3D attempts, too online, too gorey. Why is that crap so popular? (Maybe it's because that's the only stuff gamemakers are coming up with, so there's nothing good out there to buy.) I love Heroes' colorful worlds, fantasy, artwork, music, and the fact that I can use it to escape on my own and play at my own pace without having to fight with a bunch of people online. I'm getting very tired of trying to find new games, only to learn that you must play them online, where your computer is more vulnerable to attacks and garbage. If I want to be with other people, I can go out and socialize.
Sorry about the rant. Three cheers for Heroes, and here's hoping a TRADITIONAL Heroes VI is in the making (a la HOMM3Complete).

Man I really hope that devs from H6 don't listen to hardcore fans anymore. So much lame ideas like "go back to H3!" H3 is over. The formula is old. The series needs a boast. H5 tried to be H3 3D and it failed badly.
H6 needs a WORKING GOOD online play. Otherwise will vanish like H5....

If I recall correctly, Heroes of Might and Magic III worked great on-line, as many tournaments were staged, and probably still are. So HoMM3 would be the way to go, if you want online play.

Or am I mistaken?

Hey guys, Ive been an avid HOMM fan since The prince of loyalty, and I'd like to give my two cents on the series moving forward:

I, along with the clear majority, truly feel that HOMM 3 was easily the peak of the series, and let me explain why. It was fast paced, simple, intuitive, balanced well, great AI, good RMG, had lots of variety, and an amazing campaign. I don't think much more of this needs to be explained.

HOMM 5 has failed in many of these areas. The introduction of 3d was a massive failure, as it removed from the game one of its best qualities: Its fast pace. Every turn took sooooo much longer; 3d elements took a lot of the systems resources, you were constantly swerving the camera to get the right perspective, autosaving took a long time each turn, and it just seemed that every element of the game now took forever. I couldn't truck along each level of the campaign anymore, since each level took ages to complete, and for no good reason.

Simply put, the very first thing that should happen in Heroes 6 is for the game to revert to 2d, or at the very least, 2.5d. It NEEDS to happen.

As far as the rest goes, I think everything else will improve when the interface changes. It will be more intuitive, the campaigns will be more pleasant to complete, and battles won't be nearly as much of a chore.

That being said, additional creature upgrades (for variability in gameplay),a better overall UI and AI, and better story will make Heroes 6 all that it can be.
