Better graphics and more classes and skills are easy to accomplish for any novice programmer, so I won't call MMVII a better game 'cause MVI was innovative.
An improved gfx engine was a bit harder to do I reckon. M&M was no quake for sure, but messing around with directx still isn't for novices.
The artwork itself has little to do with coding at all, that's a matter of hiring a good artist. Definitely prefer the look of the mm7 dolls to mm6 PCs for example.
Kareeah had a good argument why mm7 had a better plot than mm6.
What it comes down to is I simply enjoyed mm7 more.
I've followed M&M through from III - X (though never took the dark path in VII). Replaying IX now, but stuck - united the clans, but not advancing to the next stage. Maybe I missed something, or perhaps the progs developed a glitch. Sad thing is, M&M is so "old" Ubisoft no longer seem to offer any support - it's all Heroes V.
p.s. Used to be a fan of Sierra's games, but they are just too linear.

Kareeah always has good arguments and I respect her/him very much. I agree that the good/evil concept in MMVI adds replayability, but it's just so quick to finish. On average you can get a much stronger party in VI than in VII (Ok, I'm aware of the well in Kriegspire) but even without it your party gets stronger. This doesn't really make it a better game, but it is fun to kill hordes of titans without much ado. I don't really miss the invisibility spell as it's kinda "cowardish". And the backstory in VI is also (as Kareeah said) a major plus.

To @Catmeister I think this new collection doesn't have 8th ,but 1-7'.'About MM 6 or MM 7 -Back to topic - nobody already brings fresh arguments but only repeating the same.More of this - it becomes clear that arguments of opponents have their origin not in the source of pure reason and objectivity, but sooner in personal affectionadoes which, frustratingly, disvalues them . P.S. Cycling in circles and chanting : 'I love MM 7. I love MM 7 !'

'King Quest collection' does have King Quests games from first to seventh ,there is no 'King Quest 8' in this collection .That was the meaning .Second part of the post goes to dispute which game better MM6 or MM7.
Alright 1st of all Might and Magic is 1 of the best games ever. 2 im probably its biggest fan because ive figured out how to do 99% of the game before level 50. And Although Might and Magic VII has better graphics/creatures and available character types, but the you will lose interest in it as u go along.
some useful hints for Might and Magic to play the game easy would be all archers each having learned air, and seperate learning water earth and fire. Magic will be your number 1 concern after you have enough sp to cast sparks/meteor shower/stardust. every dungeon is either a wide open room or a small corridor and spakrs can be your best friend in any of these situations (especially with a spell master that increases the damage per spark). this should make the game fairly easy. and have fun with it ad figure out some neat glitches within the game that help you
