it is obviously the american version that is right..just analyze the name foot ball..the european sport you kick around a ball with your feet..makes no sense..in the american version you dont have a ball..and you use your hands..exept for after scoreing when you do kick..and at occation during the game..so clearly the sport where you run around with a stewie head shaped pig blatter is the proper game to call football

Hey man you should look up the phrase "foot ball" - foot means the lower part of your leg. No offence, but the European version couldn't have had a more appropriate name. And by the way, our version was invented around the end of the 19th century, could ou tell me when Americans began playing soccer? Uh, yep "Yanks" and Canadians call soccer, uh, soccer and not football. Football is indeed the game with an oval ball with Armor and Tights as the poll indicates. The game which as I might indicate, is watched at Superbowl time by no less that 850,000,000 NON-Yanks around the world who also call it football. The logic of calling soccer by the name football in Europe makes sense due to what they do to play the game (hitting a ball with a foot  ), but we already had a game called football, so soccer it is... Did you want us to call our football game by the name "Rugby with armor and no scrum and a variety of other sweeping rule changes?". Football summed it up much better. |

Yeah, yeah... the superbowl is watched by a bunch of people around the world (but north american represents good part of this number), but european football came before the north american football. But, the soccer world championship is certainly more important than the superbowl. Superbowl is every year, the soccer chanpionship is every 4 years and more than 2 BILLION of people around the world watches it, not to mention that the superbowl only has USA leagues, even canadians can't take part in it. Come on, the USA is just too much overestimating on themselves. As I recall, the baseball have a world series, I know that because an north american friend was proudly talking about it, I asked him which countries the USA went against in the world series, how I had guessed: NOONE. The north american football (as well as the baseball) only exists and are praticed in the USA alone (ok, Canada as well,but canadian are always trying to have USA looking down to them, unsuccessfully). Allas, OUTSIDE the USA the american football is called exactly that: AMERICAN football. There is no argue, it is no more than a national sport, no more than that strange canadian sport where they clean the path of a strange ball (I just don't get that sport, but it is).

What does means soccer?
socks  Friend of mine once said, that american football is an interesting game. I tryed to watch, but I couldn't find, what is so exiting about it. Just advertisment pauses after every 10 minutes Football (european football) is worlds played spots game. Football is popular most of the parts of world. On the other side american football (soccer) is played only in few countries. Just an american nacional quind of sport.
