Lately I have been planning to learn a bit of dancing, but I must admit I have absolutely no idea where to start.

I have located some dance schools which have classes for beginners nearby where I live, but I am buggered if I know what type of dance to sign up to. I'm not much for techno and I can't see myself doing the ballet, so I know it won't be those. The only type of dance I really would like to learn is the Tango since I find it cool, but I should probably start of on something else since I am completely and utterly inexperienced when it comes to any kind of dancing.

Basically what I want is the ability to dance well enough for parties rather than for getting fit or having delusions about performing

So what type of dance should I sign up for?
