First of all, I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to put this.
My friend and I have been trying to play some H3 online, we used to get it work, but now for some reason it dosen't. We used Gamespy, but that dosen't work, we played by TCP/IP we know we had our correct IPs, but now it will only come up with a message something like "Sorry, unable to connect, timeout" or "Can't find that IP!" Can anybody help? I appreciate it. |

Try taking down your firewalls.

We both have all our firewalls down, but thank you very much.

Try downloading hamachi. It creates a Virtual LAN and you can use it to hook up with your friend. Once you are connected, make a LAN game and he should be able to see it.

Sorry for bumping, but I'm also trying to play H3 with a friend. We're using hamachi to simulate a LAN via tcp/ip in heroes. I can see his created H3 game in the tcp/ip menu, but when I try to join an error comes up stating that I can't connect and that I should try again.
He can't see the games I create in tcp/ip, and since I created the network on hamchi perhaps it would work if he made a network, and I joined. That's all I can come up with. The last time we tried we both had our firewalls switched off, and we were using the same version of hamachi. Both of us had steam, firefox and MSN open while trying. He's offline now though, so we can't check if it works with those turned off. |

Well, I've had the same problem and couldn't find any reasonable solution.
Still, if you use hamachi: - each one of you should try to host. Sometimes one can't join the game, but if he hosts, the other can. Quite rarely however... - if you're REALLY determined to play, make 10+ attempts to host/join the game. Sometimes the stubborn thing just gives up and allows you to play; - try to find a "third person" and ask him to host the game for you, then join - usually works, though the explanation is in another solar system; If there's any other remedy, which at least makes sense, I'd like to hear (read...) it too... |

Allright, thanks! We'll try that tonight. =)
