LOL - I just posted a topic on this. The editor NEEDS to have some sort of grid & coordinate system as a feature that can be toggled on/off.

1. Grid/coordinate system
2. Ability to download friend's published maps
3. More options in the templates & brush sets
4. More brushes within those sets
5. Turrets & ziplines
6. More variety in the paint mode - ie shorter grass, snow (for instance if you have high mountain peaks)
7. Ability to add water at higher elevations
8. Ability to lock brushes so that if you change the terrain underneath, it doesn't affect what you've already done.
9. Ability to copy/cut/paste portions of the map

Yeah I think Brimtown has covered pretty much everything.

Stationary turrets and zip lines would be great.
More variety in the paint brushes frommthe 3 we have at the moment.

some new brush sets and more variety. Ie how about like flat plaforms of varying sizes so we dont have top make them using containers using half the brushes you get for the map. Some decals like waterfalls etc would be cool to that way if you can add water at different heights we can have streams and waterfall to add to the ambience.

I forgot to add one big thing - a UNDO feature.

1.) Brimtown already covered this, but to give a specific example. If I create a bridge across a large span, then modify the terrain anywhere beneath the bridge, the sections of the bridge directly over the modified area are raised or lowered. Would be nice if we could "lock" items into place so that terrain modifications didn't inadvertently move them.

2.) I noticed that one of the multiplayer maps that comes with the game has a zip line in it, so as you've heard a hojillion times already, zip lines would be awesome. IN the PC version, you can even set a zip line to take you from a low-lying area to higher area. I think people would love to be able to do that in FC:I.

3.) What happened to the physics? I know that its a pain in the a$$ to get it working properly over Live, and hardly anyone else has been able to pull it off to any decent effect, but it would certainly be nice if I could chuck a grenade at a stack of crates and blow them out of the way. Remember how ecstatic the level designer community for FC was when they figured out how to make chain bridges? Of course, none of it worked in multiplayer mode, so there is no reason to expect that you will be able to do it on the XBox version.

3.) Being able to adjust the rotation of objects on their X and Y axis instead of just the Z would be nice. (Great for creating ramps at a steeper angle.)

4.) Simple objects like a plank of wood, or an entire section of wall would be nice. It would make it easier to build interior levels. Perhaps include several different scalable roof objects? Create various lengths of wall, some with windows, some with doors.

5.) An UNDO button! Please? Even if there is only 1 level of Undo, that would be great. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought I had modify object ready, only to realize that I’m still in terrain modify mode.

6.) Ability to set the angle/position of the sun/moon. And adjust its intensity.

7.) Weather effects (Not so important, but would be nice to see.)

8.) The ability to download a friends published maps whether they are online or not, ala Pariah. That being said, your level editor is on a completely different level than Pariah's! Much more intuitive, and much, MUCH more robust.

9.) Ability to create missions. Being able to take on a huge army of enemies in a "terrorist hunt" type mode with 3-4 of my friends would be amazing.

10.) Ability to tweak the properties of certain object, like destructibility, vehicle speeds, weapon effectiveness. Ability to place impulse fields on ramps, ala the FC PC level editor.

How about the ability to change the length on certain items (ie walls, walkways, ramps). This could be done similiar to the height, by holding down a button and adjusting the length to where you need it.

As an example, are there any editors available on PC that do that kind of object stretching?

I'd like to see curved walls and staircases (or ramps), to build smaller towers.

I know it doesn't necessarily match the island idea, but I'd like to see a castle theme, with turrets, and walls with the ability to add a break or window and large gates. (maybe even have the gates functioning so you could cut off an attack). It could be designed in both European and Asian styles.

Zip lines, elevators, a large ship like in the opening of the single player campaign, maybe even a dock/ship Theme with ships and cranes, or the ability to build your own map inside a ships hull.

and I agree, an undo would be great.

I don't know about PC editors - but there is a perfect example on this game: the ladders can be stretched vertically.

For the Xbox console, this editor is very sufficient, and from what I've heard...far better than others out there...

But, My wish list is:

1. A wider assortment of brushes...kinda like what you have in the single player mode...

2. A group/ungroup mode as used in almost any graphics program...

3. A higher amount of available brushes...ie...500 instead of 300...

4. More ease to mix and match brush sets...

GT: mambonuts

There is no Dark Side of the Moon...As a matter of fact, it's all dark.

1. UNDO, UNDO, UNDO! The map maker is amazing but too much time is lost without the ability to undo.
2. As per Brimtown, A Grid system would be great, it would allow symmetrical maps to be built easier and give a better sense of distances without having to jump into the map.
3. Again, though its been said here...cut, copy and paste are essential....with a group/ungroup feature. These tools are instrumental in saving time...especially in symmetrical map design. If it takes me four hours to build a red base on one side of the map...I dread the thought of duplicating the effort for a symmetrical blue base on the other side of the map.
4-10. Copy and cut the above wishes and paste them to wishlist as items 4-10. And if you make a mistake...UNDO!

No, they can't. They can be raised or lowered, giving the ILLUSION of stretching if it is coming out of the ground.

------

1. Undo feature.
2. X, Y rotation.
3. The things that the official maps have - zip lines, turrets...
4. Grouping and locking.

After Lots of thinking here is my list:

1. Loads and loads of new brushes and objects, as many as can be thought of and more!

Tropical Forrest
Snow
Mountain
Woodland

And as many others that can be thought of!

River Tools (Rapids, Waterfalls) and the ability to manipulate the water, i.e make your own Rapids, white knuckle rivers (with canoes ofcourse) but also able to stretch and widen them to fit in exsiting stretches of water. Cool

Zip Lines
Climbing Vines
Rope Bridges
Rope Ladders
Rope Swing
Turrets
Electric fences
Barb Wire

Lots more differnt crates
Lots more small brushes i.e fishing rods
Lots more Large objects (Buildings etc)
Lit Bonfires
Working Lights
(night time maps)
Bambo Reeds for breathing underwater.
Lots more paint types

All of the brushes and objects from the single player version/maps

2. Burrow / Cave Tool

3. Tilt function (to tilt objects to fit in with the terrain more realisticly).

4. New Function: Invite xbox live friends to view your realtime map making, with voice chat !

5. Copy and Paste Function.

6. Larger Working area (if poss)

7. Larger capacity for items such as weapons (have ability to place 100 weapons instead of just 50)

8. New weapons:

AK47 with or without grenade launcher attachment would work nicely.
Crossbow.
Large Man Trap

Rambo Style Longbow (with grenade tiped arrows and normal ones).
Harpoon for underwater battles.
Petrol Bombs.
Satchel charges.

9. Underwater obsticalls i.e Patrolling Sharks and the Piranas,
as one BIG problem is that in STS people can just swim away too easily
