WTF is PC matchmaking? Its the same as console matchmaking. I am guessing you don't play enough CoD4 to notice any lag issues.
I've never had a problem finding a good server to play in. There is such a thing called Ventrillo and Teamspeak. Its far better then Live party. Hey Joe is playing is playing Counter Strike on Steam. *click join game*. In game with Joe and we are chatting on Ventrillo. No random party crashing here, unlike on XBL. There's pros and cons about everything. It's all about preferences so you should stop trying to sound like a angry old man. It makes your argument less credible. |

Talk about sounding angry Andrew. As I said I played PC games exclusively for years. Counterstrike and Unreal tournament. I suffered more lag on PC than I have on xbox. Is there lag on xbox? sure. Of course there is. But I generally do not encounter it. Ventrillo and teamspeak are 3rd party chat applications as I stated. LIVE has everything integrated in to a single system. I have had a couple of party crash's, but that is in party chat. Standard gamechat on the other hand has not happened on live. I still like PC gaming even though I refuse to drop a ton of money into a system to play games anymore. I am not an angry old man with a less than credible argument. I am just stating the facts as they pertain to MY experience. If your experience is or was similar then I am not alone. |

First off, you obviously don't game on XBL enough if you only encounter minor lag. That or you're just luckier then everyone else.
Just a couple of crashes on XBL party? Again you're luckier then everyone else. I've had more connection issues with XBL then I have with PC. For instance, XBL won't let me connect to any parties or games started by Jbots or vice versa. We usually have to get someone to host for a game/party for us, which is inconvenient since there is not always someone available to host for us. I am only using Jbots as an example since she is a very well known gamer in this community. Some people say its my router because its a bit older model but it's still very inconvenient since I can connect with Errskate, and Sarabellum perfectly fine. They too can also relate to the lag, party crashing, and connections issues, since we encounter them every time we game. I have a friend who lives 2 blocks from me, and I can't connect to him. Meanwhile we can play PC games together fine. Like I said, you're just luckier then the rest of us. I said its all about preferences. Some people like running third party programs. I suppose in game chat with people on CoD4 and Halo 3 is not so bad. You're stating A sucks and B is better based on your experience that I haven't encountered. Either your a fanboy or your angry. Fanboy sounds more insulting so I went with angry. |

Lag schmag. I think the matchmaking services have come a long way and offer a decent gaming experience.
Granted the current version of CoD4 has some annoying bugs that cause party members to get dropped, but I'm going to guess that it has more to do with router compatibility than anything. Peer to peer gets complex like that. For me, I view this as the beginning of the end for things like LAN parties. More and more games are cutting out features like dedicated servers and local multi-player. I wonder how long it will be before we're sitting here thinking back to the time when we could play multi-player games without the internet. Don't get me wrong, the internet brings some amazing multi-player capability, but it's simply not the same. Anyone who ever had a Halo party back on the original XBox can attest to that. |

It's changing the face of gaming. Some things are better. Some, as you've said, aren't |

heh third person, i wonder what the mode is specifically going to be. I think we should all settle our differences. I love playing on live but i also used to run several servers for games like counter strike, unreal, and cod4. Im not a big fan of matchmaking but as long as it really isn't that hard to join friends in anything then i don't really mind. I'll get lag doing anything, thats the internet for you. But the constant bickering about which one is better based on experience has no value of stats. Everyones experience will differ. Matchmaking or not i'll still enjoy playing games.

Considering 3rd person cameras were helped popularized in action games by a few older FPS's (Serious Sam, baby!) that implemented it in some form or fashion (SS allowed you to switch cameras at will,) I have to say this is completely not a big deal.

What is it with FPS games offering a 3rd person option nowadays? Games cease being a 1st person shooter once you have such an option!!!! Will the FPS go the way of the dodo?

Well, not really. A camera shift doesn't have to affect the majority of the core gameplay, so really, while it's not a first person shooter, it's still a shooter.
Although, I do kind of agree, it seems unnecessary in the context of CoD. |

I would prefer co-op campaign to tricky camera work.

@Andrew;
I never said it doesn't happen, It just doesn't happen often enough that it bothers me. I play plenty of MP. Not so much with people here, mainly because you guys play at times when I cannot or I don't get invited. I have had party crashs happen a few times. Honestly though the problem I encounter the most on 360 is if I or someone else joins a game after it starts, half of my team cannot hear me communicating. My router is a WRT54GS set fully open. that is probably why I don't get much lag in games. also like Callistah said, many problems could be router based. Regarding the 3rd person camera thing, I was reading that there is a mode called 3rd person Deathmatch and a couple of other modes as well. I am still playing Fallout. sometimes I will switch between 1st and 3rd person depending on how many enemies are on screen. It is beneficial sometimes. I will also miss LAN parties. Split screen not so much. I never really cared for that. |

Wow, if this is an actual mission in the game then there is going to be a hella uproar over it. A good chunk of the level is being the terrorist in an airport killing every civilian in site. |

Wow can't believe they would actually make a level like that. I would expect it to be an opening sequence like the last game, but not like this. I see this being plastered over every news station in the coming weeks. They took the video down already BTW. |

Haha, video is removed.
