If they ensure mods still work with their system, that's the main thing I care about. It also seems like that's the main thing a lot of other people care about, too. Unfortunately, IW seems content to not address the legitimate questions about their system and are going to just let it go until release.
Gaming really isn't that expensive if you're smart about it. I just don't see why they felt the need to jack up the price. It's like they're trying to price themselves out of the PC market. |

Or maybe the price of developing a game as big as Modern Warfare 2 has increased & they therefore need to increase the cost of the game to make up for this... And yeah, if you want to keep up with the most recent games (and obviously you do or the price of MW2 wouldn't be an issue for you), gaming is expensive. You can either decide that the value is there & pay the price or you can pass in hopes of a price drop (which, considering CoD4 still sells for full price, I wouldn't be expecting anytime soon). |

Possible, but when (assuming prices don't jump before releases,) I can preorder Assassin's Creed 2 for PC for $50, Bioshock 2 for $50, or Battlefield: BC2 for $50... I'm not saying a price hike is never warranted, especially with inflation and rising development costs, but it's standing out from the crowd right now as one of the only games being released this quarter that is higher priced and only for the PC, which makes me raise an eyebrow. Granted, if it is to cover development costs, I suppose pricing themselves out of the PC market would be a smarter choice than hiking the price on the console units, too, but I find it hard to believe development costs for other games of a potentially similar scope stayed low enough maintain their prices, but not MW2.
I built my PC three years ago on what I consider a moderate budget (~$900, also inb4 "cool story bro") and it still takes most new games like a champ. Not too bad as hobbies go. However, at a time when a lot of people are out of work or at reduced hours, it's a ****ty move unless they truly do have a good reason for it. And don't worry, I look squarely at Activision for this one, not IW. After all, they're the same people that pushed a new CoD every year. Edit: ****ing hell, there's a petition for the price hike, too. All these online petitions make me want to retract everything I've said because I despise the notion of online petitions and because of how seriously they're taking this (just to be clear, I don't think this is some terrible, serious crime against gamers, it's just an annoyance that I hope doesn't turn into an industry trend.) If they want to make a point, they can not buy the game, or do what I plan to and not buy it at full price. But... ****ing hell. Another petition? |

Wow you are friendly, but to answer your question

Meh. Complaining online never helps.

Hopefully it can be good for some laughs, though. And if not that, then for a comparison to the Special Olympics. Although seriously, in some of the pictures I've seen, some of those athletes look really really happy. It might not be such a raw deal to be compared to them. |

Didn't IW release a statement explaining what the new servers were about.
BTW, there are over 125,000 sigs on the server petition. They will all end up buying the game in the end. |

The most I could find were vague references that indicate it's going to operate pretty much exactly like XBLive, which--as far as I can tell--is where a lot of the non-mod related gripes are coming from: i.e. higher ping than a dedicated server central to all parties.
Honestly though, the statements I could find just referenced peer to peer matchmaking and didn't give much info on if the game server will be run on one of the local machines, or on a dedicated server IW is going to setup and have strict control over. Also: 500. I was going to post an image in extremely poor taste, but I figure this was as good an opportunity as any to blow the 500th post. |

So it seems MW2 comes with Steamworks. Does this mean you have to install Steam to play MW2 on PC(not that I mind)

Partying got to expensive for me so I chose to go with a MUCH cheaper hobby- gaming.
One bar tab runs what- $50-100 bucks a night? I can buy a game for 50-60 and keep myself entertained for weeks. |

Oh god...bar tabs. That reminds me when a friend of mine bought a round of Jägerbombs. Poor guy forgot that they were $10 a piece and he bought six. Thanks to Phin for the sig! Live GT: l337pino Steam ID: 1337pino |

I skip the bars and go straight for the upper shelf hard alcohol. |

Steam is a great program and I'd be happy to see it on there. If it uses Steam (rather than something else) that's one less thing I'll have to download for the PC version. I will end up getting MW2 on the PS3, but not right now since I just paid off my PC version. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Follow me on twitter Marajad3 (>^.^)># I HAS A WAFFLEZ |

You PC players shoould be nothing but happy if they are setting up servers that work like LIVE. LIVE is far more stable than any PC setup for online gaming. ping? what ping? I play rounds where some of the players are scattered across the US while others are in Russia, England or the Netherlands. ZERO lag. |
|||
|
LIVE is trash. That is all. I rather have servers over matchmaking any day.

I have no in game lag.
I have a good internet setup and honestly cannot remember the last time I encountered it in game. I played PC exclusively for years. My opinion is this... PC matchmaking sucks. a gazillion servers that sometimes never have players. Having to worry about ping rating in order to play. Everyone is on different setups which DOES give some players an advantage over others. having to use a 3rd party application in order to set up voice chat. LIVE Oh, joes playing COD:MW I think I will join him. -click- I am in the game. "hey Joe whats up?" I am instantly speaking. I can even talk to someone in a different game. Bottom line; LIVE is a better setup for Multiplayer. The only negative which is limited anyway is that none of the games except Battlefield and Frontlines Fuel of War support more than 16 players. That is a minor gripe though. |
