Is it because nothing is original anymore?

I am not going to care since most of the games I want to play are sequels.

I'm looking forward to Alan Wake, Brink, Wet, Mass Effect 2 (this was a planned trilogy anyway)

*What about Bayonetta? That is a new IP that looks amazing. Have you seen the trailer? Free on xbox live. Here is a link for Bayonetta. Don't put all your chips into franchises. Take a chance on some new IP's, or not.

Can't forget borderlands. Borderlands looks great.

I love sequels to games! I think its the smartest move to make. If its not broke why fix it haha. Great blog Amy!

My favorites are of course Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2, and Super Mario Galaxy 2. I love 2's hehe.

I agree! I don't mind the sequels as much this year, as long as they aren't an obvious attempt to release a half-finished game to extend a dead franchise. :P

I'm actually looking forward to "Heavy Rain", since it seems to be a slightly different type of game. Deviating from the "comfortable" settings utilized by most games can be risky, since it can either fail miserably, or be wildly successful (and as such, produce numerous games imitating the new gameplay type). Thumbs Up

It's interesting that you ladies are so high on sequels. There's nothing wrong with that. My friend and I were having a discussion about sequels and in the end we decided that 99% of the time everything is the same. I guess it boils down to if you like the formula enough to warrant doing essentially the same thing over and over and over and over again.

I like some franchises. For instance outrun online. Have you played that one?

In the end everything boils down to playing games that you 'actually' like. If you can honestly say that you like said game and are willing to pay for the same thing with tweaks added then great. Just a flipside of the thought. Glomp

The sequels this year are alright. Some look amazing, but the majority are just the same old stuff.

As for something new and fun. This new racer coming to the PS3 looks amazing. It's inspired by Little Big Planet and the customization looks sweet.

Here's the two videos showing off Mod Nation: Racers. It looks pretty sweet.

Demo

Level Designer

Check it out.

A lot of games to look forward to, a lot of hours to invest.

I'm also excited about BioWare's Star Wars: Old Republic.

The fact that they are making this bigger than all of their other games combined just means I'll probably never leave the house for awhile.

Although most of the games I'll be getting this year are sequels, I still think that there are enough new IP's to help balance the "flood" this Fall/Winter. Cool

True, plenty of sequels on the way and the two that I'm anticipating most are MW2 and BF: BC2. There's a few new IPs floating around as well, though... but not many. The only one that comes to mind right now is Singularity, which I think will be worth a peak. I know it's been done plenty of times, but I'm a fan of time-bending in FPS games.

Me too. I picked up the genesis collection for 30 bucks. 40 games for 30 bucks. The games are dated now but in the gaming dry spell things like this are fun. Since I grew up with the sega systems it's like a stroll down memory lane. Plus- the arcade unlockable of Altered Beast and Shinobi.

I get excited about sequels to my favorite games, especially when the same development team is doing it. What drives me bonkers is when all of the games I want come out within a 3 week time span!!

Even if I was a kazillionare I cant possibly focus my attention on 5 great games at the same time! Of course the solution is to just buy one or two games and wait till you beat those before buying the others.

Yeah, that will work, but for some reason I dont feel right unless the games are actually in my house waiting for me. Plus I hate it when people are discussing the game & revealing cool stuff that I cant yet experience. I wish there were 3 of me! (and Im sure my hubby is glad there isnt! LOL Veryhappy )

Bioshock 2 is where it's at. I need to pull out the original and finish it before the sequel releases!
