I was really surprised. I didn't see that coming at all. "Quick let's get some of those Hillary supporters!"

Let's see McCain is currently 72-- does he really want this governor with no foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency?! I may be female- regardless this move does not get my vote. So.... if McCain wins... there still is a possibility that we will have a female as president. I bet a lot of people are thinking this is a Win/Win situation.

Who do you think would win in a fight? Sarah Palin or Hillary Clinton?

Depends. Are weapons allowed? If so then my vote is for Palin- she's a member of the NRA so she knows how to handle a gun (hopefully). But if its a Knock out, Drag out fist fight...hmm I may still go for Palin- she seems to be pretty spunky if provoked. |

Very interested in what Americans think of this...
She is definitely hotter then Hillary Clinton and without the Clinton stigma. Is this a big move or a non issue. Obama define CHANGE? change can be anything... PS - I love Alaska. "Heartbeat away from the White House." LOL Almost wish I could vote. |

Figures he would pick a hot female as a running mate. The more he speaks the more he comes off as a male chauvinist to me. I don't know anything about her, so I hope she has the intelligence to complement the looks.

Good looks aside, lets look at a few things here.
McCain passes on some very very qualified possibles. Mitt Romney being the chief candidate. He didn't pick him though because the Evangelical base that he has been trying to win over and even pandered to during the Civil debate doesn't trust him or his crazy Morman beliefs. He skipped on Mike Huckabee a longtime Governor who has good economic outlooks and is liked by the Conservative Evangelical base that he desperately wants and maybe needs to win the Election. there were other choices but they don't really matter. So why did he pick her? Well I can tell you that it really isn't for any of the reasons listed above in the articles. So what then? 1. Experience? Doubtful. She has less experience within ANY Government position than even Barack Obama. She runs a large state that has a population that exists within less than 6% of the State boundries. 2. To woo expatriate Democratic women and some white men? Very Likely. If that particular voting group is that shallow that it just takes a woman in the mix to get their panties wet, then I don't care about them anyway. 3. Guaranteed drilling within ANWR for domestic fuel? ABSOLUTELY! She currently controls the rights to any drilling of Oil or Natural Gas in Alaska. She is currently negotiating with the Major Oil companies so they can drill in Alaska. The holdup though is that Alaskan's own all of the land in their state, and the Oil companies do not want to pay them any of the profits. They want total control of the land. She is holding them off from that and protecting the Alaskan state Constitution. She has also been making a point of attacking Joe Biden because he voted against drilling in ANWR...in 1974 I mean c'mon! 4. McCain wants to prove that he is still a Maverick? Sure. But he is a 72 year old Maverick who truthfully could die within the next six Month's. Then she would be President. Some Interesting Information about her; She Is currently under two Ethics violations Investigations In Alaska. WTF? Yeah, Apparently she and her husband and various members of her cabinet and staff tried to Pressure the Alaskan Safety Commissioner (highest position in Law Enforcement) Into firing one of his State Troopers. When he repeatedly refused over the course of a couple of years, She fired him. so what did the State Trooper do to get on her bad side? Nothing much. He was just married to her sister and they had been going through a nasty Divorce and custody battle. Sure he isn't a perfect guy or anything, But trying to use your Government position to settle a personal dispute (especially when it isn't your dispute) is considered an Ethics violation and an Abuse of power. The State Democratic Investigation Committee is requiring Investigators to have their results in by a few days before October 31 when the Election begins. If this happens, The State will immediately start up Impeachment proceedings. Thereby disqualifying her from contention and also ruining John McCain's chance at winning the Election. I hope he remains happy with his choice. By the way she was on MSNBC last night for an hour, I could only listen to her talk for about 40 minutes because she just droned on and on about Alaska the whole time. Just some food for thought. |

What I think is interesting is that I just heard on the BBC she's only been in the senate for 18 months. McCain's previously most prolific argument against Obama was that eight years in the senate simply wasn't enough experience for a position like the presidency of the united states. So how does he rationalize this choice?

Uh Oh!

Hmmm interesting. She is Pro-Life AND Supports the Death Penalty. Now that makes perfect sense....
She has good friends who are gay- but opposes same-sex marriage. She hasn't really seen much outside of Alaska- and though she may have done some things for her state- I see in no way that she is fit for this position. I agre with Zee that McCain had more than one qualified canidates for his VP- it irritates me that he's made such a moronic move. If he wins I am moving to England! ...wait...then I have to deal with Gordon Brown... damn. She's been quoted as saying this- "As for that VP talk all the time, I still can't answer that question until someone answers for me 'What is it exactly that the VP does every day?' I'm used to being very productive and working real hard in the administration. We want to make sure that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position." ......(speechless). |

If this isn't perfect fuel for me to explain why our countries politicians are the biggest farce the world over. Nothing ever will be.
This is also why I say we are screwed for the next 4 to 8. McCain and the repubs have been smacking the dems and Obams on the lack of experience, saying basically. It won't wash. What the hell do you call this vice pres nomination??? Not saying she isn't worthy, and it remains to be seen. She is however, highly inexperienced, and one of the biggest hypocrites there could ever be? I suppose that's what campaining is all about. Say things that people want to hear. Do things that people will notice. Make promises you know you'll never be able to keep. Basiclly, lie threw you teeth, try to emotionally brainwash your watchers into loving your story and believing in you. It's a game. A game I'm so tired of. Maybe a TRUE leader will come some day. Maybe. |
