Bioshock movie in the works

I have hopes for this one. For one, it's not being done by Uwe Boll or Paul Anderson. It's being helmed by Gore Verbinski, who did Pirates of the Caribbean, The Mexican, and The Ring. Universal Studios has ponied up a lot of money to Take-Two in order to help get this started.

Hopefully they won't screw this up, because Bioshock seems to be one videogame that could be an incredible movie - if done right.

Wow, take-two it seems is taking the EA takeover bid very seriously. They're moving on just about everything they said they would to increase their stock's value. That said, damn where's my take-two stock?

I've got high hopes for this one. Bioshock was a great game and with the director of mousehunt behind it it can't fail.

What? I liked mouse hunt. Okay, with the director of Pirates of the Caribbean, The Mexican, and The Ring it's chances look good.

Tarantino would ruin this movie.

What, even better than Mass Effect?

I like BioShock but it might be a lengthy film. Maybe

So a movie that's gonna have a somewhat futuristic Good Night and Good Luck theme... I think I'll pass.

Bioshock is one of my favorite games ever. And now Universal is tearing my newborn, beautiful babe from my arms, throwing it on the ground, squatting over it and letting loose a magnificent brown waterfall ALL OVER MY BABY'S BEAUTIFUL FACE.

I think there's a lot of potential in a BioShock movie. But danger too. I guess I'm undecided.

That reminds me... I went to see Iron Man last night and the guy who sold me my ticket said (in a too-loud and too-fervent fanboy voice), "I just can't wait to see Speed Racer!" I told him I'm still undecided on Speed Racer and he leaned towards me with a feverish look in his eyes: "Undecided!? This isn't a political campaign!!"

So... yeah. I'll just wait and see on this one.

LOL, and my opinion is any less valid than "it's not a movie unless it's by Tarentino or Rodriguez"? Relax - I like some of his work, but I really don't think that Tarantino's style is well suited for this type of movie. And it's just my opinion, no need to resort to name-calling.

Moonsong, don't you think it's unreasonable to make personal attacks because someone dislikes the concept of a Tarantino-style Bioshock movie?

Cool it.

As lame as it sounds (fanboy alert), Rodriguez is the only person that has proven he is capable of successfully and accurately adapting art between mediums.

In all honesty, though, how many serious directors have attempted to adapt a videogame into a movie? Not only that, most of the games that have been adapted thus far haven't exactly been the best story-driven games, which counts for a lot.
