It defeats/negates the entire concept of playing a game if you stretch or change the originally intended parameters. The only good thing about "kill-cam" is that you can see the person who killed you from last stand using their pistol like a fully auto smg or a sniper with bolt action firing 5 rounds per second. I always report them immediately to XBL for cheating with modified equipment. There should be a set of rules for FPS much like the Geneva Convention. This behavior violates virtual ethics and shows a tremendous lack of good character, and, unfortunately, probably translates into real life for the people that employ these schemes. These are also the people that will eventually throw money around to improve their hollow lives with sports cars and viagra. Insecure cheating weasels.☠

p.s. Not that I watch sports, but, this is similar to steroid use issues. These players should be restricted from playing in honest/clean matches and be treated with universal disdain.

But in all seriousness, I agree. I'm not sure I understand how it eliminates weapon recoil if the recoil is an intended mechanic programmed into the game, but being able to fire faster than what anyone can do with a normal controller is weak and lame.

Thank You Valkyrie!!!! I play COD WAW, I have ran into so many players with mods it is crazy. If it makes you feel any better... My squad and I play Capture the Flag against modders all the time and smash them. If you have to use a mod you shouldn't play online multiplayer. The reason for the leaderboards is to show your true skill and be recognized for it. It is sad that people have to stoop this low. I laugh in their faces because when they play against us they don't have a chance. Anyways I will proudly continue making modders cry on COD WAW.

dont they make controllers with this built in? i think i played halo2 years ago with one. didnt really help too much though. it cant be that good if ive never noticed anyone use them before :P

i dunno personally i think its kinda silly to make a big deal over such a crappy mod but thats just me :P

WOOT!! Mods drive me nuts, but it just makes me feel that much better when I kick that persons butt! I understand that some people like to win by any means possible. Yet, it always amazes me that some people truely believe they are better or "superior" gamers because they dominated the match.

It reminds me of the people who always cheated on their tests who liked to brag how smart they were. I always saw that as ultimately cheating yourself. I know that modding & hacking is here to stay though, so I deal with it the best I can. If you sneak up behind the person with the mod, it wont prevent their death!!

Ah, one of my pet peeves. Is it just me or has the occurance of modded controllers increased in comparison to last year? I don't recall coming across so many cheaters in Modern Warfare last year. Cheapens the whole point of a sniper class if your pistol miraculously fires faster than a submachine gun.

This was actually addressed during the Xbox Live Enforcement panel that I attended at PAX. It was a really good panel. You can listen to it at the end of Major Nelson's most recent podcast if you're interested.

The reason it doesn't really work in Halo is because Halo limits your rate of fire by the animation, so you can't do anything else until the animation for the first thing you did is complete.

thanks for posting this for me, the forums were acting funny and not letting me post yesterday hehe.

They make halo specific rapid fire mods, so even tho they have to wait for an animation, they still fire as fast as they possibly can when they go into auto shot! which i would assume is faster then most =P

Rapid fire mods are the WORST when it comes down to CoD especially if they're using like a G3 or dEagal. I kno a few ppl who used a controller mod while playing Gears 2 and it's not as useful, can't use a torque bow with it, work wonders on CoD..

Well be lucky you aren't playing with cheaters like in Counter Strike.

Great post Amy! Doubt you'll find someone here that agrees with the use of mods. For some reason I thought I read somewhere that games like Halo and WaW can now identify those using mods and ban them

Is the user firing 10 rounds per second? Yes? BAN! Actually I would hope it'd be a little more cautious than that, because some people *can* just pull the trigger *really* fast, but I imagine it'd be along those lines.

Yeah I don't remember as many modders back then as there are now. I assume it has something to do with the fact that they're sore losers and don't want to play fairly with others.

WAW does indentify and mostly mod blocks them, but only for a short period of time. Fail
