Well everyone is raving about Dan Brown's latest book and I can't take it anymore! I don't want to read it! No no no!
So I want to see what you guys have been reading and what books do you want to recommend for everyone? I had a chance to finish Shan Sa's Alexander and Alestria. Compared to her other works this book was a bore. True to her style Shan Sa doesn't shy away from using explicit sex scenes to set a certain character mood but this book was all over the place. She also put her own interpertation of Phip's abuse on Alexander. I think it could have done well without the poetic theme and the constant switching between Alexander's and Alestria's prespectives. I never understood Alestria's actions until the end of the story. There were many key historical references. The one that immediatly pops in my head is Philip's statement on the changing of Mecedonian society where he declared that the Age of the Sun has arrived. Sun is a patriarchal symbol. Well that was my mini review |

Dan Brown is a hack. An incredibly rich and successful hack, but a hack nonetheless.

Half-Real: Video Games between Real Rules and Fictional Worlds
Diablo: The Sin War - Veiled Prophet The Illiad Deconstructing the Elements in 3ds Max (version 3) The Art of Computer Game Design ... all in various amounts and times. It uh... it takes me a while to finish a single book these days. As far as a mini-review: I'd only recommend Half-Real and The Art of Computer Game Design if that's what you want to go into. Game theory applied to games ftw? (Kind of.) Same with Deconstructing the Elements, except with FX animation as opposed to game design. Sin War trilogy I highly recommend to any fans of Diablo. Fills in a lot of blanks the games hinted at, but never had the time or capacity to fill in in an entertaining way. The Sin War trilogy in particular goes into the creation of Sanctuary and where people first got their powers. Also, you get to read descriptions of naked female demons. With scaly tales. That could kill you. Giggity. Which leaves The Illiad: I highly recommend it, but then again I love the classical period, so *shrugs*. Puts an interesting twist on watching Troy, that's for sure. |

Close enough haha!
Totally! His books are ment to be a fiction adaptation of historical events and relics but there is very little history in those books.
The illiad is always amazing to read! If you are looking for a fiction take on the Trojan war with a more historical twist then you have to read David Gemmell's Troy trilogy. My husband loved the last book in the series. |

Walcheren: Operation Infatuate
It's about the clearing of Walcheren island in The Netherlands after Operation Market Garden failed so we could use the port in Antwerp. "Do not build your community around a game.... Well that and he's a ****ty writer. More on topic though, I haven't read much the past few years, although I did finally just get a library card last week and grabbed "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. ------------ | GameDibs.com | Dibcast | Twitter | Facebook | Steam | A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere |

I'm reading a classic, Everybody Poops. A lot of it goes over my head, but I wanted a really challenging read to tackle this year.

I Just picked up The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
I have been itching to read that. I am going to get the new Stephen King book in the next day or so also. |

I just finished reading "Manhunt: the 12 day chase for Lincoln's killer" by James Swanson. It's an incredibly detailed and in-depth look at the Lincoln assassination and Booth's escape. A definite must-read for any history buffs out there.

I just read "A core gut microbiome in humans and mice." Blech. And yes, I actually read it. For class, but I did read it.
In all seriousness though, I am currently reading The Wolves of Calla by Stephen King. I read The Alchemist before that, and after this read I think I'm going to read either The Omnivore's Dilemma or The Iliad and The Odyssey. |

You are not a real geek if you have not read at least Ender's Game out of that series.
Right now I am reading through the Dune series. |

The Odyssey (the real version, not the one they have kids read in high school these days,) is so awesome. Hated it when I read it in school, picked up the full version on a gamble one day, loved it.

I was at Barnes and Noble the other day. I saw what looked like the first in a series of Ender's Game graphic novels. It was short, so I assume there will be more. It looked ill. Ender's game was awesome! I read it recently after andrew lent it to me. I couldn't really get into Speaker for the Dead, though |
