I'm not really interested in the console, but I do like the 250GB hard drive. With installing games to the hard drive, downloadable games, and HD TV shows, I could really see some people needing the extra space. I mean people were saying the same thing when the first 1GB drive ever came out for PC and now look at what we have.
I'm fine with my 120GB Hard Drive right now, still have over 50 GB left once I clear out all my demos but it wouldn't shock me at all if a 250GB drive becomes ideal in the near future.
i LOVE it! but im such a nerd for anything IW. I'll probably try and get one, since my halo box is/has been showing signs of its soon to come breakdown. its a bit overkill, but eh, why not. they should make a L4D 2 box or something.
for an extra $100, you get double the storage of an elite, a fantastic game, and two wireless controllers. that's probably why everyone wants it, methinks.
See, this is one of the nice things about the PS3, is that you can attach a third-party external hard drive to it. The 360 comes with USB ports, why not allow us to hook up our own hard drives?
You can easily get a 1TB hard drive for under $200. By way of comparison, MS is still charging $120 for their 120GB drive.

You ca attach an external hard drive to the usb ports of a 360. I do it all the time to watch movies and listen to music. The reason you can't use an external hard drive to save games to and download content to is probably cause it's a security issue. You get people saving their games and going at them with a hex editor and you have problems. That would be even worse for downloaded games. You'd get people writing cheats for games that way. For movies and music I'd guess it's a piracy concern.
Actually the nice part about the PS3 is you're not limited to PS3 brand hard drives like you are with the 360. You can easily replace the internal drive with a bigger one and not void the warranty (at least I don't think).
Honestly I bet it is cheaper for them to sell it with a 250gb HDD than a 120gb one, due to mass production moving on to bigger hard drives. The same thing happened with the original Xbox where you could only access 20gb or whatever but they would actually sell them with a 100gb drive in them because it was cheaper.
I'm calling it right now: Saying that they're not going to sell the 250GB HD alone is just to drive up sales of the bundle. It'll be available next year, after the Christmas rush on this bundle is over.
