Provided this doesn't devolve into a straight-up action film, I've got high hopes for it. It's either going to be the next Independence Day or the next Children of Men - here's hoping for the latter Wink2

If you guys want all honesty... I heard from some of the people at the Sony Pictures booth who saw the screening that it wasn't a great film- low budget looking and predictable. :/ I got a cool alien-target shirt for it, nonetheless.

Ha ha, I didn't see it myself, only passing on what a few people who did see it said. I hope it's good, with all the hype.

I am pretty stoked about this movie. Also if this movie does good, I heard we might get a Halo film in the near future. I ain't a big Halo fan like Jbot, but I would love to see a Halo film.

I can't wait for this

good lord, I've never seen 100% on RT before. I'm not surprised if this movie does really well. People have been waiting for a smart science fiction movie for awhile. I saw Moon last week and I'm excited to see smart scifi come back.

Nothing against Transformers but there is nothing more engaging and scary than a future that is relatable and very real.

If you guys haven't had a chance to watch Neil Blomkamp's short movie: Alive in Joberg, you should, it's awesome. Peter Jackson is the big name behind the movie, but Neil created and directed District 9 based on his short movie.

A bunch of Halo fans are hoping if this movie does well Neil will finally have the go ahead to start work on Halo. With his preview of what it would look like I"m sure he wouldn't screw it up.

Thanks for the awesome sig Phin!

I've been looking forward to this movie ever since I saw the trailer months ago

Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn't work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are soft.

Meh, Im not too anxious for the Halo movie. The story of the game isnt that great in my opinion. I hear that Peter jackson isnt doing the Halo movie anymore anyway. He does need to start getting that Hobbit movie ready for me though Big Grin

Oh really. I figured your sig, you'd welcome it ;P

I heard if this movie goes well, Peter Jackson will let him direct a Halo movie.

Yea, I think I like Mass Effects sci fi storyline over Halos. Heck even Dead Space if that counts.

Yes, we needs the hobbits. They are being taken to Isengard.

District 9 is going to kick all kinds of ***. Midnight showing ftw.

And Peter Jackson is done with Halo, he's said it himself a few times now. Latest rumor has Spielberg interested in producing a Halo movie.

Hmmm I am tempted in going to a mid night showing, but you know how it is where I live. Overcrowded to the max.

This is the movie the decided to work on when they first put Halo on the back burner. Jackson was more interested in doing this movie anyways because it was a different unique story he said

This film is being called one of the smartest Sci-Fi films in a decade.
I have also heard that while watching the subjugation of the Aliens, it does a great job of making you think about the people of johanisburg who are basically in the same boat as the Aliens.

Screw Halo. That game had a crap story. What story there was.

Just got back from a midnight show. Hands down, best action flick of the summer. One of the smartest and most original sci-fi movies you will ever see.

SEE IT NOW.
