with six seasons under its belt, and a spin-off premiering this fall, NCIS is anything but played out.

for those of you thinking, "CSI is such an awful show," I will do nothing but agree. you see, CSI stands for Crime Scene Investigation and deals with said crime scenes, collection, investigation, and testing of evidence, while NCIS is a Navy Criminal Investigative Service, dealing primarily with criminal activity involving Marine and Navy personnel - crime scene investigation is a very small part of the show, unlike CSI.

another glaring difference between the two is the cinematic feel Donald Bellisario has brought to NCIS, versus CSI's stylized television approach that wears off quickly.

also, CSI character development is nothing to write home about, while NCIS has hilarious, lovable characters that always keep you on your toes with fresh dialogue and social relevance.

there are plenty more reasons why the two shows are incomparable, but I am probably just preaching to the choir, or providing ammunition for the inevitable peanut gallery.

to conclude, all I can say is - I am ridiculously excited about the new season (TonyZivaOhNoes!), the LA spin-off , and it's stellar cast.

Then again, if garbage like this and this is what floats one's boat, how can I ever convince one otherwise?

when the spin-off was announced, I will admit to some skepticism. however, once they premiered the new cast in a cross-over episode, I was thoroughly convinced of its inevitable success.

I only wish that the show would air on Hulu instead of linking to CBS. Oh well...

I'm downloading the remaining 5 episodes of season 6, and am looking forward to Season 7.

Just been reading up on the NCIS: Los Angeles spin off, and it looks ok. Will have to wait to see how good it actually is.....

Downloaded and watched this as well as the new season of NCIS this morning. LA was okay, the acting isn't as tight as their NCIS counterparts, but i see potential in the show. I will keep watching.

As for main NCIS, wow, just wow! Tony is a legend!

My only question, why LA? There is not exactly a large Navy presence in the LA area. San Diego would have made much more sense.

Because LA sounds fancier to the general viewing public.

It upsets me. Contrary to popular belief the world does not revolve around LA and or San Francisco.

the spin-off is more about espionage, counter-intelligence, anti-terrorism and things of that nature - they work in a an 'earthquake condemned building,' instead of a traditional office setting. think 'black ops.'

I've always enjoyed NCIS since the beginning. Think its a great show and I do actually like it better than CSI for some reason. Smile

I love watching old re-runs of NCIS. Unfortunately, I am missing the new episodes, due to that damnable thing called work, but "such is life".

The only reason they picked LA is because Hollywood refuses to accept that there is a world beyond LA.

The reason I liked JAG and NCIS is because they were in the real Navy World, DC, Norfolk, San Diego, ect. There is one TINY base outside LA in Oxnard. And when I say Tiny I mean TINY! I understand that it is about undercover work, but the point of NCIS is that it is for the NAVY. It would make much more sense is they went an hour south to San Diego.

That does bring me to some of the things in NCIS that make me laugh. They treat driving to Norfolk from DC like it is a 30 minute hop instead of a 3.5 hour drive. Also there are no palm trees or mountains in Hampton Roads. But I can see past all that because they set it in the Navy Yard.
