I'm not taking offense to this remark as I am a long-time lurker on these forums but I can see how newer members can find such comments offensive. Granted, I grow tired of some of the threads that pop up (some of which take on a narcissistic bent and serve only to gather attention to oneself), yet, give new members a chance. Having been part of another dying forum for years, it really helps to have an influx of new members who can potentially wash out the stagnation. What some of you guys are saying really sounds like "old guard" elitism.

I suppose at the very least there aren't people running around telling those of us who have been posting less than two years an indeterminable amount of time that we're cancer and newf*gs.

Wow. As one of the so called current "core members" here I am almost offended by this.
Since I personally feel that In a majority of my posts I bring a sense of constructive thought to conversations.

Also as I pointed out earlier, this forum unlike a majority of others actually has people who have hung out together on multiple occasions.
that one factor may have a lot to do with how you regard some people. Mainly the ones you have never met. There is nothing to judge them by beyond the odd post.
Granted I have only met the majority of the people here now or that used to be here on one occasion. But I gathered enough from them to know If I liked them or not.
If I didn't, I would have left here long ago.

all that said, If you don't respond to posts from people who are commenting on your own posts, then I guess those people now know to just ignore those posts.

Which is to bad, because everyone here has something to offer.

This is certainly not the first time there has been any kind of slow down as stated. I can also at first glance agree that the actual interesting topic % is way down as well. When I passed through a couple years ago. I would read nearly every topic. Now, I might click on one or two. I guess the recession has impacted the tubes as well.

As far as AAA games White Knight. There are a couple coming very soon. Assassins Creed 2 looks to be very polished and I'm sure will be a must buy. The game I'm waiting for most though, is Splinter Cell: Conviction. I have really high hopes for this one. I hope I'm not let down. Outside of RS. SC has always been a fav of mine.

I just thought I'd jump into this thread and throw my two cents in as I've been an off-and-on forum participant over the past two years. Life gets in the way (moving to another state, dating, work, etc.), and it's hard to be as active as one would like. I've been lurking pretty hardcore for a while though; I like reading what everyone has to say without saying anything myself. Haha. I've found I've had more time on my hands lately (being laid off works wonders in that aspect) so I thought I'd stop back around here.

Btw, there's no Shadowskull person anywhere around here anymore is there? I hope Pancakes scared him off...

It's obvious the dolls don't give a flip about this forum as a first or second priority. They don't have to. Forums(In general) to me at the present time aren't as useful as they used to be.

This forum used to be populated by some very great minds of all walks, and it used to provide for some very good intellectual conversation. In all areas. This used to be the place to come for great debate and conversation(On all Topics). Those days are gone. People talk about the rebels and the old school renegades. Back then though, they couldn't hold a candle to the wisdom that flowed through here. The brain ruled. Any idiot that dared speak was easily passed over, or run over, to intellect. They didn't matter. And those that dared relent were tossed out in an educated manner so swiftly that they would most certainly be staring at their keyboards saying: "But how/why"?

Now. It's just basically opinions. Which obviously makes for a lot of arguments and disagreements. It's the way of the world. It's the state of these very forums. Or it's the very generic poll of what you prefer or rank in order. It's been done a million times on a million websites.

I will say, that the inner cluster of friendship that has clung here is to be admired. You are not to be poked. However, please be reminded, that you are not who made this place. You are only at this place, at this present time.

There are so many things that can effect the atmosphere of a forum like this.

One that everyone should really understand is--

The ever changing roster of the team(Frag Dolls), is first and foremost of the reasons. People in general, have a hard time reconnecting to new faces and new personalities. It makes for a tough go in a forum especially.

This is something I think forum/irc 'lifers' overlook, and newcomers couldn't ever hope to realize. The lifers should. The newcomers need mentors. Instead they get berated and run off in most cases. When they should be befriended and coveted. I see this happen. It just doesn't happen enough. That's where the failure happens. It's not the Doll's fault. It's the communities fault.

I could go on. Just tried to nutshell this but, when I see the community bash the forum. They are basically, bashing themselves.

But is tearing people apart for a lack of knowledge really a sign of intelligence or wisdom? I don't think it is at all. If you have to assert your knowledge by bashing others for making a mistake or a dumb comment, how smart are you? If they make a truly ignorant and offensive comment, I can see someone going after them, but that wasn't the case when I began lurking the forums. The trolls here weren't wise, they were just bullies hiding behind a screen.

I love this community and it's why I've stuck around since I started. Not everyone is a troll and not everyone in the community is ok with Trolls. I don't blame anything on the FDs, they've got lives too. The trolls that were here are mainly gone for one reason or another and we're in the middle of a dynamic shift. The forums will continue to go on, it's just going to be a bit quiet for a bit.
