The last time these forums were ever dead was back 2 or 3 years ago. There was a weekend where nobody posted (for the slow people...not a single thread moved) due to a certain troublesome poster (Brooke should remember this, she started cleaning up those threads for us). After the person was banned people started coming back.

I've seen dead forums and these are very active. If you had a single post over the course of a few days or a week, than yes, you could say it was dead. On with your therapy.

Jaspir, it is not about me liking you or making you like me or anything. Honestly I don't have anything against you other than I know we don't have enough in common to be friends. I don't dislike you for it. I am having this conversation for the fun and entertainment value of a debate. Several people have already told me this thread is the most interesting thing on the forum in weeks, even though that isn't saying much. I never said you don't have common sense because you are younger. I'm just trying to understand the differences in our views in a logical fashion. I don't look down on someone for being younger, we were all there at one point. It is important though to understand that there are things to life that not everyone has experienced yet. There are things in life I'm sure you have experienced that I have not. I think this is one case where I do have some more experience though.

I think Grace is right. You are hung up on the new thing when it is not about being new, it is more a symptom of being new. When I made fun of that girl for "posting in purple and her MySpace" it wasn't just about that. The main thing that made me post a comment was the things she wrote and the way she worded it. It looked more like an application for a job or friend\date than an introduction (if you go back and look, my first comment was a jab about this forum being match.com, and my later clarification where it was in regards to the unrelated info in her post). As you see she never posted again. I doubt this is because of our comments and more likely related to the fact that I don't think she ever intended to post again. She probably actually was just looking for a job and hoping one of the girls would see that she wanted to be a tester and magically offer her a job. Of course this is all a guess, but I tend to have pretty good intuition about these things.

You say we would not have had the same reaction if an old member had done the same thing, do you have an example? If pancakes or someone else had posted some serious post in purple I would have mocked them as well. There were\are several long term members (Mutton, Genesis and Doc, for instance) who are teased and criticized a lot. These are examples where we were just as harsh, if not more harsh to existing members, than to new ones.
