I went outside today and took some more pictures! I figured I'd post them in the art thread this time.

I can't show the actual comic itself right now, because I just submitted it and am waiting on word as to whether or not it will be accepted. I'll get back with you guys on it, but it could be up to two months before I hear back either way.

If you wish to see more of my art, and a lot of my older stuff that were learning experiences, my deviantart is located here

Let me know what you think!

Did you do the coloring on this one? It is fantastic!

Yes, I did everything on it. Thank you, I'm glad you like it. Glomp

This is what it looked like when I originally drew it, without the colors:

The color definitely finishes the piece. Still not done with it yet, gotta add a background, which is my least favorite part. :/

Phoenix / Faith

Okay, this is my first stab at coloring in Photoshop instead of MS Paint, so go easy on me. Smile
Pencil and paper drawing, scanned, cleaned up and colored in Photoshop.

Hehehe...I know I said that the next piece was gonna be another comic but I've had to kinda put that aside and work on another project that's got a deadline. Of course, this piece isn't part of that project. It is a personal piece that I thought I'd try. Its the first time so its not perfect, but I think it is a nice start.

I used photoshop. First I colored it all in photoshop (did the lineart using manga studio), then saved each variation I had drew as a separate picture in a smaller form, since the original size was huge. Then I opened All the pictures I saved individually and put them all into one file. I then opened up the animation tool in photoshop and then set up each frame and picture that cooresponded with what I wanted it to do. There's 51 frames total.

I have been trying to teach myself the animation part of photoshop.
Did you have to do 51 drawings or did you copy/paste them in groups of 3-5 and then do inbetweens for the eyes and hair?

Animating in photoshop is great, but flash is definitely the best way to do it.

I'm hoping she didn't really make 51 individual frames, because with tweening and what not, you could easily achieve the same result with just couple frames. But this takes practice to figure out. I remember one of my first animations was a girl blinking, which I could have done in 3 frames, but instead I made about 20 frames.

Animating is a great talent, and there's so many tricks and techniques that simplify it as well. I think I'm going to start working with animation some more, because it's been a while since I've done anything.

When I was younger I used to make flip books that told little stories. Usually about a couple of guys beating each other up. Or someone riding a bike and then crashing and flipping for about 20 pages.
I would make those things every day.

I have wanted to do an animated web comic for years now.

I would love to see an animated webcomic form you, that would be awesome!

I noticed a lot of games are starting to use a still picture animating method. Two examples being from the Guild Wars 2 trailer and of course, InFamous. InFamous had some of my favorite cutscenes in the whole world, it just oozed with comic style, but in motion! I love the animation method. Big Grin

lol no I didn't do 51 separate drawings. It actually started out as a single sketch on paper, then when I did the lineart I did 5 variations for the hair and eyes. So I only did 5 frames really, but when I got it into photoshop, I ended up having to split the eyes and hair up to really get the effect that I wanted so it ended up a few more frames than I started out with (thank God for layers). I think there are about 10/15 different frames used since I didn't have just the eyes blinking(ended up having to save each frame variation as a separate smaller picture to make the animation look right cause the original is huge), which I could do as well with the way I have it all set up in the original file. I am just glad that I already knew that I could repeat frames for the effect I wanted so I didn't have too much work to do drawing wise.
