Hey I need some opinions.
As you know I am working on a comic to submit to ZUDA.com Its centered around a Terrorist/Ninja Assassin, so I wanted the logo to reflect a Japanese /Asian feel. So I created my own version of a Japanese style letter. Similar to a group of Kanji symbols.

So does it work?

Very nice, sir. Is it supposed to spell something in English, but have a Kanji look? I see some forms that could be letters, but I can't make out a specific word from the text, so I was just curious.

As far as the look, yeah. Just... yeah.

Expo: thanks for the suggestion. When I make the time to finish up the texturing, I'll look into the lettering a bit more. Luckily it won't be hard at all to switch their look around to concave lettering.

Redcoat: I'd love to see what the editor can do. In the past when time was more available, I fancied myself a map maker as a hobby, and so I'm always interested to see what sorts of things people put into their engines as far as toolsets go.

That is the word it spells in english.
The design is VERY abstract, but If you look closely you can see recognizable shapes.

I printed it out and added a small hash mark to the center leg of the -W- character which helps the viewer to put it together better.

Still working on it though.

I looked at it for a little bit trying to figure it out, and now that you posted what it was, I see it. Happy

Kinda reminds me of this project I had to do in my Fundamentals of Design class. Had a lot of fun with it too. I love playing with type.

Ditto, I see it all now that you've pointed it out. In all reality, I don't think it'd take that much tweaking to get it to a very legible state. It might mean westernizing the font a bit more, but given I could already tell that certain symbols looked like certain letters (and I was right Big Grin) it's not like they're completely foreign-looking.

Look at it again. I edited the original photo.
Does it read any better with this small fix to it?

Hmm. I think a tick mark on the bottom of one of the legs would help actually. The tick mark in the middle (at least for me) is confusing.

But that's just nit-picking. Honestly, the thing is beautiful and creative.

I had to paint a gaming mat for a guy today. These are like big mouse pads for people who play Magic or Yougio type games.
This is all freehand and pretty fast.

Wow. I wish I could draw Anime. Whenever I try, my characters end up looking like bugs. I think I draw the eyes too big. Lol

This is a 24"x26" poster that was my final project for my Advanced Image Manipulation class (aka Photoshop for Suckers.) Anyway, it's still a work in progress as it feels empty to me and I want to keep working on it.

"Don't Cry Out" is the name of a song by Shiny Toy Guns. I used a Wacom tablet to draw the mouth.

Zee, I think the "y" is what's throwing me off the most. The top of it doesn't really look like a "y" to me... almost more of a "g".

Also: Awesome game mat. The keys remind me of a 3D model I saw as a tribute to Ray Charles (him playing on a keys that extended past the piano in a similar, wavy fashion.)

JeStar, I see what you mean about it being a little empty. That might be how you've framed and composed it, though. With the aspect ratio you've chosen, it leaves a lot of empty space at the top and bottom compared to the sides. And, in fact, when I scroll to the right area to crop the top and bottom (because I use a noobish 1080i screen as my monitor,) it looks fine to me. So maybe play around with that first?

That could be it. When I first started the project I had a serious mental block about filling up such a big space (2 feet by 3 feet). I guess now that the due date is passed I could crop it. Haha.

Here are a few of the animal bust sculpts that I've created during the past month. It took a long time to make them because I'm not good at drawing, but I wanted to try and create them from scratch, without reference. Smile

Ok so I remade the logo based on the couple of responses I have received.
I have also scanned the first couple of pages of my comic (inked versions only) into the computer
I need to redo them to get the images sharper and cleaner. Problem though is that I have an all in one scanner (read: crap) and had to merge the pages together.
But here they are.

What do you think?

I left out the layer that has the word balloons in it. Gotta keep the story a secret you know.

Hey ZeeEVIL I sent you a PM to ask you how much you charge for those play mats. I've been looking all over for a place to do custom mats for my yugi addicted man... LOL. Please check your PM.

Hey thanks you guys.
I wish my scanner was better though. I have lost bits of each page and some of the blacks are not sharp enough.

I have a few more pages complete except for like random panels.

I will post them soon so y'all can check them out.

I can't wait to see them colored in.
