Couldn't find a thread on it already, but seen a few people comment on it here and there in other threads: so for those of you who have it, what do you think? I've heard a lot of good things about, and was considering picking it up when I had the money.

However, today I heard it's really slow getting going. He said lots of dialogue and not a lot of fighting. Which, I'm okay with if it's done right. So, for those of you who have it, what are your opinions?

It starts out pretty slow, but it definitely picks up after an hour or so. That sounds like a long time for a game, until you realize that the main story will likely take you upwards of 25 hours (I've heard as high as 50 hours actually, even when avoiding a lot of the less interesting side quests).

Honestly, the game is KOTOR in almost every way, albeit with a medieval coat of paint. Unfortunately, that includes the pacing of the story in the early going.

I started to play the game last night. So far it's fine. I like the amount of dialogue. There are lots of skills to round out your character and the control scheme is surprising easy to learn. I haven't played into the game that much, only finishing the human noble origins story and the Grey Warden's quest but I like it.

There is an xbox insider video on LIVE about this game. They said the main story will take around 100 hours. There will be DLC available around launch and they have a number of things in the works for that front.

The game really looks good though and I always did like Icewind Dale.

Yeah. Icewind Dale freakin rocked.

I'm excited to lose myself in an all-consuming rpg again, especially one with this much promise and being such a long game.
An awesome Bioware game like this = A definite buy for me. KOTOR with a fantasy/medieval coat of paint? Yes please.

I'm loving Dragon Age! There is a lot of dialogue, but I've found it to be evenly balanced with the fighting (I'm not the type to choose all dialog options though). And most of the dialog is well done, unlike the monotonous tedium that is Risen.

Yes, there is a lot of dialogue in the beginning but it help sets up the politics and background. It definitely picks up after the first hour.

And it is very worth the $65.

Well, damn, I'm sold. Which is good, because I think I'll have Torchlight thoroughly beat in the next couple days, and will have thoroughly spanked the infinite dungeon in just a week or two... which is right around the time I'm estimating I'll have extra monies again.

And if the story really does take 100 hours to play all the way through again, I will be soooo happy. Not counting the Total War games, it's been years since I've played a game that actually took, you know, more than a few days of solid gaming to beat.

ya i rented it because i wanted to see how it was, i liked mass effect but thought it was really short and even though i have never played KOTOR i heard nothing but great reviews on it. Like everyone said theres a lot of dialogue to begin with but it gets better from there. I am really thinking about buying this later down the road after my wallet has recovered from MW2 and L4D2.

I've been rocking the PC version. I've also watched Andrew play the 360 version. I highly recommend the PC version over the console versions. For one thing, you have the option to scroll the camera back and play it like Neverwinter Knights, Baulder's Gate, Dungeon Siege, etc...

The frame rate also doesn't turn into diarrhea on the PC version when you get into combat with more than 2 - 3 enemies.

Lastly, the modding tools they're releasing for this game are supposed to be top notch, so expect some crazy fan mods to be made that you won't have access to on the console versions.

The lowest point of the game, IMO, is the graphics. It's the typical problems that plague Bioware games, so you'll probably know what to expect.

****ING YES. I love when companies release mod tools. That's one of the big things that turned me on to Torchlight. I love ****ing around with the mod tools and putting out the occasional map.

Feh, we all know having an axe blade sticking off of your helm is better!

Which I still haven't forgiven Blizzard for their armor design.

But seriously, is all of the armor art pretty cool? If I pick up DA, I want my character to look badass. Or be a female char and show lots of skin if she can't look badass. Either one is fine with me.

I haven't got that far into the game. Get this, I've already logged 15 hours or so and only explored 19% of the land. So far the armor is alright. Nothing that is terribly cool. It's kind of the standard stuff: scale male, splint mail, chain mail, leather, magic armors, elvish armors, dwarven armors, ect.

I think, now this is just an opinion, that the armor designs go back to those old fantasy books that were released in the 80's-90's. Familiar with Forgotten realms, Dragon Lance, Terry Brooks, ect...?

*Dragon Age is the game that most closely mimmicks a table top experience on the 360.

Don't tempt me Manny! I can't run the PC version. Crying I'd love to be able to have the same camera control we had back in NN and BG.

I could see that. Bioware did make this game after all. They made games set in the Forgotten Realms universe, like Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate. Remembering back to The Sword of Shannara from Terry Brooks, the imagery they used to describe the armor was similar to that found in these games. I guess that's just the armor descriptions indigenous to the fantasy genre, though.

I'm familiar with Forgotten Realms, NN, etc. Never played any of 'em, but picked up bits and pieces of their story and lore along the way.

And as far as the armor goes, scantily clad women aside, I prefer the type of armor being described. I can't stand to play a character wearing fruity-looking armor.

Edit: "I got my face punched in by a troll. It was pretty lulz." Did he at least give you a reach around?

Listen to this. I was talking to my friend who also purchased the game. We started totally different origins and have a totally different playthrough experience. That is officially cool, in a nerdy kind of way.

*This was something promised in the Mass Effect game but has become a reality in Dragon Age. Very shaman like. Happy
