Blog: WoW Raider Guildline by Valkyrie

You and your guild sound absolutely miserable to play with.
|

No doubt. Rule #1 of raiding: have fun. |

Not to be rude but aren't you in SSC and TK, those are mid level raids. Lets face it the only places you need flasks and such is Hjal and BT. Pots are a must but you can take the crappy ones from doing your dailys. They have nerfed so many things that it is just silly to waste things like that in SSC and TK. It is impotant leading a guild to be serious but you must also have fun. On my old server Deathacus the best guild on the server was Months Behind. They were in Naxx when that meant something and they were never serious about anything. Their app. required you to post a Tranny Porn Picture. I also seem to remember Holy Priests Holy Fireing on boss fights where they were supposed to heal. Point is you can have people like that because even though they may screw around they are what keeps a guild together. You could be the best guild leader ever and just be an total @sshat and find yourself without anyone else in the guild. |

What's miserable is trying to raid with a group of morons who don't know what they're doing and won't shut the hell up.
|

I'd rather raid with a group of people who realize that they are playing a computer game. I don't know. Call me silly.

Rule #2 of raiding: Don't raid with n00bs. |

This is precisely why I stopped playing WoW. I don't need a secondary job, especially if I'm not getting paid. To me, all the effort it takes in a raid isn't worth being able to have some little purple item to brag about. I play games to have fun and goof around, not to feel stressed and tense. |

What have I been listening to recently? "I have a competition in me." "The world doesn't just disappear when you close your eyes..." |

I love you girl, but after reading your blog I never want to go into a raid EVER! Sounds brutal!
I'll just stick with battle grounds. |

lol, good. If i have kept non-serious people from raiding then i have done my job! Go pvp noobs, where nobody counts on you!
As far as being in SSC/TK, please don't tell me what we need/don't need. We are in progression there and ANY guild in progression anywhere should be bringing anything that helps them as they have all don't yet the gear to carry them through. We have been progessing here for 3 months and the only reason we haven't gotten farther is the noob wanna be raiders that don't take it seriously and show when they want to. |

Raiding can be uber fun. I had the majority of my most enjoyable times and fondest memories of EQ from raiding with my guild. This blog shouldn't turn people away from raiding, or MMOs in general. You don't know what you're missing. |

And when the new expansion comes out and the level cap is raised to 80 all that gear will become obselite. Green has become the new purple....again :P

I cancelled my WoW account yesterday because of players like you. The minute someone starts throwing out the word "progression" in terms of WoW I immediately go into a blood-drunk haze where any neckbeard in the area better grab their Cheetos and Slim Jims and waddle off to their 88 VW hatchback with the bumper sticker of a crowbar and the phrase "WWGD?" BECAUSE IT IS OH SO F*CKING CLEVER before I garrote them.
There is no "progress" in WoW, unless "progress" to you means doing the exact same thing over and over ad infinitum. I'm not saying this is a bad thing. WoW has it's place. It is a computer game you play with friends to relax from the monotony of your horrible job and miserable, soul crushing town. You play it with friends who also want to relax and nerd out for an evening. Raiding is not "serious business" and anyone who says otherwise should probably re-examine their sh*tty attitude towards WoW, because you're making the game unenjoyable for us sane people. |

Wow. So if I dont have the same interest as you I'm a noob? I have a whole team that depends on me, the only different is we have fun and its not life or death if someone F's up. I dont know about you but I dont like walking on eggshells when it comes to gaming with my friends. |

After reading this I had to say something... I quit hard core raiding in WoW in old school raiding of MC and BWL. It just got to be a job. Killing the SAME bosses over and over is not cool. I got burned out after a year. I found myself RUSHING home from work so I would get my DKP for being in the raid and so my counterparts wouldn't act like asses if I didn't show up. I sometimes found myself lying to my guild telling them I was sick and couldn't raid... WTF? What is this a job? I need a doctors note so I can spend some of my FREE time doing something else without getting yelled at. It was cool at first my favorite fight was Vael and Nef in BWL. That was awesome at first. But after doing it over and over again it got old. And when I didn't want to play I get threatened to get kicked out the guild if I didn't make raids.
Then the way people act in hard core raid guilds is CRAAAZY! I have some idiot barking orders over ventrillo. What happened to common courtesy? Why do you have to YELL, what am I your dog? I mean it got to be so much that someone got into a heated argument over ventrillo with our guild leader. Then he started threatening us. "If Nef is not downed by Saturday I'm disbanding the guild..." Why is it that serious dude? It'll happen. Just because X, Y and Z guild has Nef on farm and we don't doesn't mean we suck. We only tried Nef for 3 weeks and this jack off is talking about disbanding the guild... Like, really? Some people just need to sit back and ask themselves if they are REALLY having FUN playing WoW. It IS a game. It's not a job. I was a hard core raider for a long time. But I got burned out from the repetitiveness of the content, my ******* guild leader, and my lack of free time. So I stopped playing WoW 4 months before TBC came out. When I went back to WoW in February my family and friends were SO upset. Just because I've canceled doing stuff with them for WoW and they didn't want me to go there again. I remember it being my brother's birthday and telling my guild that I would be late and rushing home to jump on WoW. Huh? NOW I realize how insane that is. WoW over interaction with family and friends is a no go. And that's what you're asking people to do when you ask them to raid 5 hours a night, almost every night. People have lives. People having lives does not = noob. That's why in my last raid guild it was a casual one. No more being on WoW at 2 AM when I have to work at 6 AM. And getting yelled at cause I need my sleep. No thanks. I'll pass. I did Kara about 5 times and I stopped playing because of school and gave the account to my 14 year old nephew. Meh... I don't know if I'll ever go back. Just being able to turn on my 360 when I want to play and not when someone tells me to is awesome... Being able to enjoy my life and play my games when I have TIME is also awesome. I guess different strokes for different folks. |

Raiding is very fun, I guess some people have forgotten that raiding is not life or death. So what if the raid wipes because you weren't paying attention. It is just a character that died not you the actual person.
I still stand by my point that with the new gear from badges, the nerfs, and the arena season 1 gear that SSC and TK are easy as all hell. Don't worry though soon you will be in Hyjal and BT, they are taking away the attunement quests kind of like they did for TK and SSC. So all those who were in Kara progressed onto SSC and TK where the first few bosses are free loot. Lootreaver anyone? |

Well if one guild isn't working out for you, there's a whole lot of other ones out there that will...where people can actually have fun and 'progress' at the same time. Don't let a bad experience deter you from the game as a whole. |

What is an infinitely sadder thing is that you don't realize the context in which you say this. I'm not saying you're sad, but brofase, phineas, rick and rei have really hit the nail upon the head here. This is a "GAME". The point of a GAME is to have FUN. If you're going to put effort into something, why make it for some stupid thing you only rent and never own that doesn't even exist? I quit playing wow for 3 months because I wasn't having any fun. I went back recently and I got chewed out by several members of my guild a couple weeks ago who insisted I wasn't being "serious enough" and who argued with me for over an hour that I was in fact retarded simply because I hadn't picked aldor or scryer in shattrath but stayed neutral. One of the people arguing with me was a woman with children who had raised 3700 gold in three days for her "epic flappy", the other was a single man who had raised 2800 in two for his. Both of these people are always online when I log-in and online when I leave and I thought I was bad. And these are people I'm expected to somehow keep up with? Blizzard is a sick bunch of sadists. The multiplayer component of the game is little more than an envy engine designed to make you want to constantly surpass your friends in a vicious "keeping up with the Joneses" cycle. You knock yourself out but there is no 'progression' or 'endgame'. They'll just release more **** later on and keep you chasing after a carrot on a stick. Everything in that game is utterly pointless. If you're treating it like a second job then you need to stop and think about your life. Certainly you need to think about where your energy is going. I mean, /played and think about what you could have done in that time. 71 days for me and yet I think I have no time to learn a second language? So now I've taken up exercise again and started reading more. OMG, I know, I could be farming adamantite right? I think I'll live. Better, might I add. "I often quote myself. It adds spice to my conversation." --George Bernard Shaw |
