Sega was the one gaming system that my parents never bought when I was growing up. I used to love babysitting my neighbors because we'd sit there and play sonic all night. I love the randomness you can find on youtube.
That was actually quite interesting! It's crazy to find out what it takes to make a game.. they worked 21 hour days putting Sonic together. Shift work ftw!

I was actually going to mention that, too. Sleeping tubes, anyone?
As far as this blog goes, though, Commander Keen ("Billy Blaze" Blazkowicz) is the grandson of B.J. Blazkowicz from Wolfenstein 3D. Oh, and let's not forget the Dopefish!
Unfortunately, I don't hear about this sort of thing as much with new games. Either I'm looking in the wrong spots, or people just aren't as willing to talk about a project that's just been released in the past couple years (NDAs, and all, I would guess?)
I love Sonic, all of the sounds of that game make me feel good and bring me back.. I also love the way it said 'Seeegaaa' when turning on the Genesis and Game gear it still makes me feel good when I hear it.

Flipside for me. I was roped into the sega gaming at an early age with their arcade titles. To really get the full sega experience you had to own the system and play the games at the time. SEGA had some awesome games that trampled over nintendo.
Nothing was better than putting 2 bucks into the sit down afterburner game and playing for about 20 seconds before getting shot down. What a rush. Those days are gone but back in the day SEGA was the shiiiit.
