Ok, so my mom's birthday is on the 11th, and I've been trying my best to think of a good gift for at least a month now and I am stumped!

I don't want to get a generic mom gift like a digital picture frame, etc. I want something different, yet still sentimental. Any suggestions?

My price range is about $50, but I'll pay more if it's super stupendous enough. Razz

Make something? Like a photo album perhaps? Maybe draw some art on there. People usually appreciate things that take effort even more than expensive things.

Are you a scrapbooker ... the photo album idea could be great with your artistic bent Smile

Spa day (if too expensive then get her a ME kit - wine, candles, bath salts, chocolates ... voila home spa).

I agree with abby, the me kit seems nice, everyone loves bath salts and chocolates. Also, I think this all depends on what she's into, give her something that she likes personaly, like my mother loves bees so i would giver her something with a bee on it.

Early Birthday wishes to your Mom Big Grin

Giving Jewelry as a birthday present may be old but I have found a way around that haha! You can get her Jewelry with her birthstone on them Big Grin

I found a nice set of Citrine earring on this site

http://www.ice.com/earrings/si...g-prd_esy_100111.jsp

They cost 95 dollars though.

I really appreciate everyone's suggestions, but this one stood out to me the most. I recall hearing mom talk about how she wanted a mother's ring from time to time over the past couple of years, so I finally decided to order her one from Zales. In Love

(different names and stones, of course)

About $100 after shipping, which isn't bad, considering some mother's rings are hundreds of dollars, and I can't afford that. Especially since my dad had a birthday in August, my younger brother in September, and my older brother in October, so that's four months in a row of their birthdays, which hasn't been easy on my pockets. Razz

Anyway, funny enough, it's going to take a couple weeks, so it looks like this will end up being a Christmas present instead. Having that said, I will probably go with a goody bag of pamper stuff from bath and body works or something, because I can whip that up quick enough for her birthday.

Oh, and one more thing I'm totally not sure about that I hope I didn't goof up. There's three of us kids (well, we're all in our twenties now but we'll always be kids Too Happy), so our names are on the ring, but I felt like my dad was being left out, and having just three would be a little lop sided, so I ordered it with Dad's name and birthstone on it, too. Is that flat out retarded to have my dad's name on my mom's mother's ring? I sure hope it doesn't defeat the purpose.

Gosh, I hope she likes it. Blush

Melonie I think she'll love it. I didn't see this post until now, but I always have to do relatively inexpensive gifts because, as a grad student, I'm usually broke. One thing I like to do is cook a really nice meal for a gift. I know it's lame, but I can't really buy anything super expensive. I like to cook too, so I find out something my mom likes to eat, or my dad, or whoever I'm cooking for and I buy the ingredients, find a good night for them and cook and then clean up the kitchen. So far it's turned out well.

Melonie, that ring looks really nice. Do you get to pick the color of the gems?

@PMS Spark; those stones are the birthstones of each person named on the ring. Changing them would take away from what the idea of the ring is.

I was thinking vibrator too. Or maybe a nice bullet to stay in your price range?

Just call it a family ring instead of a mother's ring. DONE!

These suggestions are awesome and make me smile.

Edit: Aaaand then completely forgot to post what I had originally intended:

She'll love the ring. There's been a couple times when my brothers and dad and I have gotten my mom something like this. Always great to remind her all the people she needs to keep in line, you know? Wink

Another thing you could do for future present-giving occasions, is to find out if she collects anything. For example, my mom collects Pocket Dragons, so normally every Christmas we all pitch in to get her a couple.

Okay that makes sense, I must have missed that part. I guess it's not nearly as cool if you only have one kid!

You could always get her a ring with one freakishly large stone, and then tell her it's a reminder of how much she owes you for making her life exciting!

And then she could tell you it's a reminder of how much YOU owe HER for not taking you out of this world when you were a little child. Big Grin

You could get her what every child at some point wants to get their parent.

Some Leather goods.
You know, a belt in the mouth or a boot in the a$$.
