This movie kicked serious ass.
We enjoyed it all around, but the scene at the Afgan village where he first uses the Red and Gold suit was just intense. Every blow looked like it had real impact. 9/10 |

yeah, especially when he shot the rocket into the tank and walked away. That was so Power Rangers style. -------- I saw this billboard and it said,"Need help, call Jesus." 1-800-984-8800 I decided to call the number and about 20mins later a Mexican showed up with a tow truck. |

Iron Man was a great superhero movie. It was great to see a movie of this genre really stay true to the character, and not be so over the top, or so silly as to not be taken seriously (*ahem* Fantastic Four). It goes up there with Batman Begins and Superman Returns as the only good superhero movies in the last 10 years or so in my opinion.

The Ultimate universe nick Fury is based directly off Samuel L. Jackson's image. If he's gonna be black, it only makes sense. |

Saw this movie earlier today. I have to admit I had my doubts. But I was very entertained throughout the whole thing. I just Loved the special effects, and I was laughing pretty hard during most of the movie.
"Beware of pretty girls in dance halls and parks who may be spies, as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally." |

Well, it certainly didn't help. I personally confused the two Green fellas: Lantern and Arrow. My statement still stands though. No dudes in tights (or Hillary... sick freak |

Why is it whenever a new superhero movie comes out. People always say it's the best ever? Or one of the best ever.
It is a good movie. But, we didn't think it was one of the best at all. At least they did keep just about all of the background intact instead of choosing to go hollywood. Outside of a couple great action sequences, this movie was just another hype train for the comic to screen library. |

Except when he landed and didn't even put a dent in the sand, after crashing through several storeys of his own home from only a couple feet off the roof. Don't know why I notice this stuff. |

For the very same reasons when a new video games come out that is a hit everyone claims it is the 'best ever'. |

What's the matter? Are you too much of a weasel to OWN up to your own opinion again? And you'd rather pick on other people's opinions, instead? What would YOU say is the best superhero movie to date? I'd say answer this question FIRST, before you question people's comments on a high horse. There are many, MANY reasons why it is potentially the best superhero movie to date: 1) Since Batman Returns, how many quality superhero movies had been out? Batman Forever and Batman and Robin weren't that great. When Spiderman came out, it never really struck me as a "best superhero movie" all because of the compromises made, but it was still decent. The X-Men movies were "tolerable" at best. The Incredible Hulk stunk, and so did the Fantastic Four. Superman Returns had a good cast, but it sadly didn't meet my expectations (especially being a big Supes fan). Batman Begins had a very good approach, and at the time I did feel it was the "best" superhero movie to date (up until it was trumped by Iron Man). My only qualms with that movie are: a) that I really didn't like the batmobile; b) They totally ruined Ra's Al Ghoul and made him die too early in a fire. What else is left out there? Daredevil? Elektra? Punisher? Hellboy? Considering the "competition", there aren't a lot of quality ones. So WHICH brings me back to my question: Which superhero movie did you think was the best? 2) From what I understand, this is the first time that Marvel Comics has complete creative control over one of their own superhero movies. So you can be quite assured that the movie will have a "comic book" feel in terms of pacing, storyline, and humor, and modifications would be minor, if any. 3) Robert Downey Jr.'s acting was fantastic. He played the role and character of Tony Stark quite well. Charming, charismatic, chauvinistic, combined with scientific genius. He got the role of "the man who has everything and nothing" down pat. Again I say, he was BORN to play this role. If good acting isn't a significant factor in a "best superhero movie", what is? 4) The humor was very well done, and didn't feel "forced", unlike superhero movies of the past. Again, the humor felt like how it WOULD BE on a comic book standpoint. I'm not going to spoil specifics for people who haven't seen the movie, so hopefully it won't have to come to that. 5) From a storyline/plot/origin standpoint, and made sense, even if it's a minor modification of the original (it still involves Tony Stark having to deal with a coronary problem). It was done according to CURRENT era which is very important, I'd say. Having Iron Man face terrorists in the Middle East is something that people can understand and relate to. Also, even if the antagonist of the movie was more or less unknown, he played the role perfectly. In addition, the antagonist's motives were "believable" and not far-fetched. He wasn't trying to rule the world, per se. He was trying to win control over a multi-billion dollar company. 6) CG in some movies don't mold well with real life footage at times, but for an Iron Man movie, CG is TOTALLY justified. And hence, the action sequences were totally enjoyable, as well. These are my reasons and justifications as to why I bill this movie as the best superhero movie to date. It isn't merely because of "hype" or "bandwagon" which you are trying to insinuate. I made the consensus, as a COMIC BOOK FAN myself. [=[_]=] You know it seems the more we talk about it [+[_]::] It only makes it worse to live without it, but let's talk about it GamerTag: Sensei Ukyo | AIM: flypshady | MySpace: myspace.com/flipshady |

And i agree 100% with this statement. It really met my expectation of how bad a$$ it was. perfect casting, great action scenes, cgi was well done and not overused, stayed true to the iron man comics, it was everything you could ask for in a superhero film. Not only that but 100 million in its 1st weekend for a hero not as well known as spiderman or batman is phenomenal. Also the fact that its the best reviewed superhero movie standing at 94% on rottentomatoes is definetly going to give iron man the legs it needs to draw to the 300 million mark...although my guess would be it will end up with 250 million but definetly enough to warrent a sequel. Cant wait to see war machine in action |
