Yeah, I like them. But I don't know why. It's like how some girls look at trashy celeb magazines, instead I play JRPGs.

Bear, maybe they make you yawn but there is obviously a market and fans of jrpgs even though shooters and action games are much more popular on the 360. It's a good thing the 360 has some good rpgs just to bring some variety.

Right now, I'm playing on and off Eternal Sonata as I'm about 20+ hours into the game. It's a beautiful, colorful music themed jrpg. I'm not too impressed with the story and there is too much dialogue at times, but I really enjoy the battle system.

Blue Dragon seems like a decent rpg. The character designer is the same one who did Dragonball. I may eventually try it when I can get it cheap.

As for Lost Odyssey, I've been really excited about that game ever since I first saw the trailers over a year ago. It's probably the best jrpg out so far for the 360.

Yeah Lost Odysey is a great game. You should really check that one out. But the thing about the 0 points "achievement", Dead or Alive 4 has those in it too and so does Lord of the Rings:BFME2. I unfortunatley have all the ones in Dead or Alive 4 Crying.

Uh-oh... I feel a rant coming on... *clears throat*

JRPGs (and anime in general) are ridiculous... you have to actually FORCE yourself to like them. You have to invest like 10 hours into a JRPG before you are involved in it -- not cause you like it, but because now you HAVE to like it because if you don't, you've wasted 10 hours! Same with anime... it's not good animation on the whole, not well written, not well acted and not pertinent to American culture. I just can't get into it. If there were ONE redeeming factor, maybe I could see past the rest of the stuff, but I have yet to find one. This doesn't mean I am looking for suggestions, either. All suggestions to this point have been teh phail.

And in the immortal words of Dennis Miller, a man I have come to admire of late, "...of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong."

What have I been listening to recently?
"I have a competition in me."

I tried the demo for Blue Dragon and the music bugged the hell out of me. So did everything else for that matter

You have to wade through a ton of poo (monsters) to reach a gem? Now you've endured some of that game, go and play BioShock eh?

Guitar Hero III has a no-points achievement as well for refusing to play against a boss. I have that achievement...

He kept waving a banana in front of me and calling it a female aardvark

RPG's are awesome....man
your actually immersed into the game....instead of following a set story you can explore and communicate with characters....RPG's set the standard for all that stuff...that's now in most of the 1080 generation games
back in the original Playstation days Final Fantasy 7 is still one of the greatest of all the RPGs....that's a classic...it's actually the only one I've played...for awhile...I own Final Fantasy X and XII-they don't get much milage though...too much FPS...Racing and Fighting games.
Anime rocks man...Ghost in the Shell,Macross,Neon Genesis Evangelion...Masamune Shirow one of the greatest manga artists ever... Angel

I know partly how you feel Caly I've got BioShock and the Orange Box waiting on the shelf to play when I have time to dedicate to them bow .

But I dont understand playing a game your not really enjoying... I've got four words of advice for you there "life is too short" Smile . Seriously dont feel guilty about it, there is more music, art, great games, films, TV shows and other things than we can probably experiance in a life time so why spend your time playing something that doesn't make the grade? Smile Cool

PS: If you want good RPG's check out BioWares old PC catalog, if you haven't already.

I feel your pain. I played Blue Dragon for a bit. I didn't make it past the first disk. There is another game with a zero point achievement. The Simpsons game. As bad as Blue Dragon is, it's still not on the same crumulent level as FFX2.

I've always liked the Phantasy Star Series. However, the series began to degrade after the original. The first Phantasy star had awesome 3-d dungeons. At the time this stuff was wicked. Of course I was like ten or something. I'm still waiting for a new Phantasy Star game that goes back to it's roots. All that online **** destroyed what the core game was. Did you know that most people mark FFVII as huge because a character dies. What alot of people don't realize, that Phantasy Star II had a main character die way before FFVII.

*If you feel the need to challenge yourself with a JRPG pick up a copy of the original Phantasy Star II on the genesis and play through it without using the hint book. I would wager that if you haven't already played this game that you wouldn't be able to finish it without the hint book or an internet walkthrough. On second thought don't do that it could lead to insanity.

Watch the first video. Funny in theory, but not so spectacular in reality.

It does tend to have that effect on people... you've seen Magnolia. Well, come on up! Let's do some indie shiz. Ooh, you could join us (Dave and me) in the 48-hour Film Project this summer.

Then again, Dave just tried to convince me to play a JRPG. I'm considering forgetting we even had that conversation, but for some reason it's tough to get out of my head. I look at him so differently now.....
