New 2D fighting game to play! (For a month or less, lol. x_x) I promise I'd suck in this one, I haven't read up on this game one bit. :P

From the developers of Guilty Gear... for sure this will be a quality fighting game.

If nothing else, this is the most BEAUTIFUL 2D fighting game to date... in its hi-res, anime-style art glory!

Is it really 2d, or just cell shaded?

SO I actually have this coming in the mail on the 30th or so. Only problem is my Xbox is in for repairs. That gives you plenty of time to master Arakune, Nu or Rachel and eat me alive. lol. Isn't KOF coming out on the 7th anyhow btw? Crowded plate atm.

Just a reminder:

I pre-ordered this game with the knowledge that the LE version comes with a 2-disc soundtrack, AND a tutorial disc, for the EXACT SAME PRICE as a standard edition one!

Ridiculously good deal, if you ask me!

When I got to Gamestop however, they are telling me that they aren't selling any standard editions, at the moment. They are all LE editions of the game.

If you didn't pre-order this game and you intend to get it, now's a good time to buy it. This LE version isn't going to be around for too long, I assure you. Everyone's going to want to get their hands on that soundtrack + tutorial disc!

This game looks really nice. I am fan of fighting games in general so I am considering this game. However, MvC 2 comes out soon at a much cheaper price so I may end up getting that first and wait for a price drop on BlazBlue.

Also, I still have concerns that BlazBlue's online community will be dead within months whereas games like HDRemix, SF IV and MvC 2 will last forever. Honestly, Ukyo I rarely ever see you online.

My cousin called me today and talked my ear off about this game cuz he had just picked it up lol! He made me really excited about it and the fact that Ukyo is excited about it too made me even more excited about it hahaha now im double excited

We know you play fighting games. You don't always have to announce that you do.

I am like a rare pokemon. I only appear during late at night (around midnight), since I have a retarded work shift. And even then, that's IF I'm visible online. :P I am way easier to reach in IRC, though...

Not sure if the BB community is gonna "die down", but if the GG community is any indication, it "shouldn't" die down. Don't expect life expectancy of ANY fighting game to remain popular in THIS community though! We have Shoryuken.com for that!

On an unrelated note: This game... So purdyyyyyyy to look at! If you are an artist/designer, or you simply have a love for anime/animation, you will definitely appreciate the aesthetics of this game!

i am contemplating getting this..but i am afraid(like most fighters) i would get tired of it too shortly after. i am not one of the hardcore fighting masters...but who knows!

So I got to play the PS3 version of this game last night with 2 of my cousins and my fiance. I gotta say, it was pretty darn fun! I liked being Jin and Taokaka. And I do agree, this game is very purdy!!

If you have the 100% completion OCD, the story mode will net you 20 hours. That plus online play makes it sound like a mighty good purchase IMO.

I have to admit, I'm a huge fan of games that have anime-style art. Not that I don't enjoy realistic gameplay, of course, but there's still something so appealing (to me ) about the art style of Arc, Atlus, etc. The screenshots from this game remind me of the Disgaea games, but much higher quality.

Anyway, I plan on picking this game up. The only choice I have to make, is if I purchase it for PS3 or Xbox360.

I would say the 360 version since more of us have it, but I can't say anything about how the controls are.

In answer to your query stonelance, the characters are hand-drawn 2d sprites, the backgrounds contain some 3d elements.

My xbox departed mequite at 2:30 this morning. Can't wait to play after watching the tutorial dvd. The guy doing the Tager vid was hilarious. The only thing that gets me down is I hear every character has about 4 character specific combos.

Ukyo talked me into it, and now has to be my sensei for fighting games. ;p

So far I think I'm liking Jin Kisaragi and Ragna the BloodEdge... and a little of Bang Shishigami.

Jin because I'm loving his freeze attacks (allows me to do extended attack sequences). Ragna because he has decent range with his sword and he's pretty mobile AND he has an uppercut! And Bang because... he's so f*cking hilarious. He has a super that lets him go into Super-Saiyan mode, for crying out loud!

I'm still trying to figure out how to get 100% in a lot of the characters' story modes. It appears that in addition to picking certain branches in the stories, you also have to LOSE on purpose in some of the encounters. A LOT of backtracking involved, but some of the gallery stuff that you unlock along the way is pretty neat.
