I am led to believe the standard

Yeah, the standard edition makes the most sense.

Boo, that sucks. Oh, well. Oh, and it is kinda annoying how many people I know already have the game. What happened to companies actually caring about the street date?... And yes I know people downloaded it and played it on their flashed/modded Xboxs, but the many that are on my list actually have the game.

Are people playing online? And if so, will all stats be reset on the actual release date?..

Yeah. Last I heard, there were over 5,000 online as of now and growing by 1-2,000 per day. And yes, they have stated stats will reset on 11-10-09 at midnight.

What happened to publishers suing the **** out of companies that didn't respect the street date? IMO, they should.

A lot of the time, it's not widespread enough to be an issue. It happened pretty bad with Halo 3, but that was almost all 7-11, and it was ignorance more than negligence. In MW2's case, I think it's prominent only because people seem more willing to risk their employment in order for them and their friends to play it early

The MW NVG intrigue me, but I'm not ready to plunk down the cash just yet. I already have the Eyeclops NVG, I picked those up on sale nearly a year ago. Yes they're a toy, definitely not military grade, but they work well enough for indoor use.

Uh, I'm getting whatever my kind brother pre-ordered for me as a birthday gift...which I'm sure is the standard edition. Can't complain as I don't find anything appealing about messing around with toy night vision goggles or special metallic packaging and what not. That extra money can be spent on games like L4D 2.

It's bundled with the standard edition.

Well since both my husband and I are gamers we are both getting the plain Jane no extra goodies edition. I think $120 plus tax is enough for me.

I was going to try finding the Hardened Edition, until I saw this. $100? **** that. It's not worth an extra $40. Normal for me & I'll pick up the original Call of Duty on XBLA whenever it becomes available for purchase.

I pre-ordered the Hardened edition, it's a ridiculous rip-off but **** it, It's a steel case.

None. Society won't trick me into buying a highly hyped game probably I won't like, again!
Also Activision screwed me over with Prototype, that's another reason not to get this 'you should buy this, because society thinks it's so cool' game.

God knows I'm only buying it because society told me too.

Yay buying games because society told me and not because I enjoy it. Yes, Prototypes Radical Entertainment and Infinity Ward are the exact same company with the exact same talent... :/

Not to mention Prototype isn't in the same genre, nor does it have the same production values. Call of Duty 4 (and subsequently MW2) are games that not only define their genre, but they'll define this console generation. Prototype, on the other hand, will just go down as another open-world 3rd person action game with some interesting ideas that still wasn't as good at GTA, Crackdown, Saint's Row or Infamous. And how exactly did Activison "screw you" with the game? I mean, I know they're a bunch of greedy whores and everything, but sheesh.

How exactly does CoD4 and MW2 define FPS games?
|
| |
|

|
By that, I mean CoD titles defines excellence in the modern FPS, as do the Halo and Half-Life series.

Do you mean a FPS game set on a modern time period?
