You mean like fun? Playing the game should be its own reward. Happy

Getting achievements isn't fun, and has no real purpose. I can play the game and have fun without getting the achievements. However, if getting all the achievements for a game unlocked some extra content, then I might consider it.

Like Lirael, I thought the Zombie Chopper achievement was brilliant. So were a few others in Half Life 2 - The One Free Bullet? Because they challenged me to play outside how I normally would, by restricting what I could do. This was surprisingly fun

Yea the "Down boy Down" achievement was pretty tricky- took me two days to finally get it. The trick is to just hit the right stick down once when it comes up on the screen- when the dog goes to bite you. My problem was I kept hitting it. Anyways- my next two goals are geared towards Rainbow Six- I want Pistoleer and Executioner. Big Grin

Nah, it wasn't that (though it might have been tricky if I'd tried to do it) - I just couldn't kill them... I be a wuss Blush

I have never cared for the gamerscore. I like acheivements if i get them because they generally reward you for defeating some ridiculously hard portion of your game. It feels good like you have been noticed. It doesn't need a score though. If anyone looked at my game list, you will see that i have beaten many games but completely skipped a majority of the Achievements.
I am also not to big on going back and playing games repeatedly. I played it. I know the story. Time to move on.
Thats just my outlook though.

Achievments are supposed be a blueprint to help you play the game or try things you never would of expected. If you farm for achievment points or don't at least try to work for them your cheating yourself. What's the point? To buy a game then manipulate the system to get points then trade the game in? How many times in Gears of war to people run achievment matches on rooftops or other maps to get the little digital blip? Just play the game.

I say, if you've been playing for fun. Congratulations, you're smart enough to avoid their marketing ploy for spending more money on games you don't even want to honestly play.

Some achievements are fun to certain people. for instance the Half Life 2 achievments are a blast. Dead Rising has good achievments as well as Crackdown. Like I said, they help some people understand a game. Almost like a blueprint.

Why do people do that? Buy games they don't play or like. I never understood that. The games I play or purchase I all like. There was one game I purchased that I didn't like and that was enchanted arms. I got, now this is a laugher, 40 bucks back on the trade in. So I only lost 20. That's why I don't buy these turn based jpr's anymore. I guess I outgrew the turn based jprs. Wait I got the answer. I guess it's just to fit in.
