This is totally true as I haven't played any of the GH games nor Rock Band at any great length. It just doesn't hold my attention enough... I don't know why because their first games - Frequency and Amplitude I couldn't get enough of - especially Frequency... best sleeper game on PS2
STOP IT. THIS IS YOUR PAIN. THIS IS YOUR BURNING HAND. IT'S RIGHT HERE.
Whenever I have people over at the apartment and break out Rock Band, I always assume I'm going to have to tutor everyone on how to play. I don't mean to think that way, but I've never met anyone (in person) who plays games as much as I do. On New Year's Eve, I had a bunch of people over and we were doing the Rock Band thing. Whenever I set it up with people who haven't played before, I default everything to Easy because people can just rock out and have fun, and not have to worry about losing (usually). When I told the girl who was going to sing to use the controller to set the difficulty to Easy, she gave me a serious look and said "I'll be fine.". She did do fine, but I sneaked away and smacked my forehead because I knew she thought that I thought she couldn't do it, and that I probably thought so because she was a girl. I felt bad, but next time I have people over I'm going to do the same thing, since I'd rather everyone had a good time.
Man I got Rock Band for Christmas and everyone I know who has played it says it's awesome, even my mom likes it! (that is if there's a song on there that she knows). I never picked up Guitar Hero 3, not that I didn't like it or anything I just don't have the money (I like the guitar though). The only down side to RB is that the DLC doesn't have a whole lot of songs that I know of, I mean c'mawn get with the program! I wanna see Lifehouse and other sweet bands like that!........*ahem*, yeah
It's true. Generally, music and rhythm games aren't my favorite type of games. The last music game I was good at was Bust a Groove for the original Playstation, but I really got into that game and loved the music.
I think games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band are considered casual and Rock Band is basically a party game so I'm not surprised a lot of guys aren't good at it. Only two of my friends are pretty good.
I've been playing Rock Band at a friend's place for a few weeks now. I do really well with the bass guitar on medium, which isn't much of an accomplishment but I enjoy it.
The human mind does it automatically because it always wants to understand things even if it means simplifying it to a generalization. But if your away of it then you are quite the intellectual
Seppuku's looking for men with experience... for her rock band. I've never played rhythm games much I'd probably be terrible at the timed button presses. How's the singing work on that thing anyhow?

I'm available for Seppuku if she is still looking though I think distance would be an issue.
This past weekend, our band decided to switch it up. I went from medium bass guitar to medium lead guitar and did decently on most songs and horrible on 2 songs. Like any other game, it takes practice to be good.
As for singing, Rock Band detects your tone so you don't even have to sing the right words if your tone is right. I was a horrible singer but I'm told once you get it, it's pretty easy.
Rock band is definitely a great game. I've met my fair share of nay-sayers, but the overwhelming response is cheers, smiles, and laughter!
Has anyone else noticed that the singing seems to track best to "real life" skill? (Followed closely by the drums...) A really excellent singer can kick a** on any difficulty. My friends who are drummers in real life actually struggle on the easier settings, but rock out on hard and expert. (It's hard to not play all the beats on easy and medium.) And for guitar, it seems to be a mixed bag.
