Nicely said. The movie was great! But whats up with speilburg and aliens lately? lol. and the CGI stuff, i guess they wanted indy to keep up with the times. But great movie overall, loved every minute of it. one more thing. I am SOOOO GLAD that indy did not give his hat to his son XD! lol! |

I thought it was great. I've loved all the Indy movies, and this one was no different. Shia LeBouf was surprisingly good and I have no problem with him taking over the whip and fedora for Indy 5, should it happen.
As far as the alien stuff, a friend of mine summed it up nicely, and explained why it makes sense in the context of the Indy-verse. The first Indy movie was like "The Jewish treasure". The second Indy movie was like "The Hindu treasure." The third Indy movie was like "The Christian treasure." And the fourth Indy movie was like "The Scientology treasure." ------------ gamebattles.com mlgpro.com destructoid.com xblbrothers.com myspace.com/xblbrothers Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster. I agree fully with the first three JJ but the fourth one is confusing me. What does Scientology have to do with Aliens? Other than L. Ron Hubbard being a sci-fi writer. I would think it was made for those who believe in another non religious history. |

The only connection to Scientology is the fact that it had aliens in it. Because according to Scientology, Xenu who is an alien ruler of the Galactic Confederacy brought millions of people to earth and stacked them around volcanoes, then blew them up. All the souls came together and clung to the bodies of the living (also known as Body Thetans). As a student of Scientology you undergo several auditing trials to clear your body of these negative effects. So yes Scientology is based on Alien life. Thus you have your connection. Scientology seems a little sci-fi/fictional to me for a basis of religion- but I study religions and beliefs so I find any "religious" viewpoint interesting, and try not to judge what works for others. I have to admit though- the skeletons of the aliens- being made out of crystal was a pretty cool concept. And I also heared that George Lucas wanted to make this movie even more about Aliens but he wasn't allowed too; thankfully. |

It was ok, but a bit too over the top.
I think the ending would have been a lot better if they had implied the alien bit.. so had that lady's brain fried, but without the alien morphing/portal/spaceship bit.. Also, the crystal skull looked like sounthing you'd pick up from the £1 shop |

Wait, wasn't that actually done in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom? The dining room scene where Indy and that lady were having dinner and they brought out all the bugs, eels, and stuff to eat? And for dessert, chilled monkey brains? Pokemon Diamond Friend Code: 4682-4970-6275 Wii Friend Code: 4443-7625-9283-3123 |

So i finally got to see this yesterday. It was a good enjoyable movie. Not quite as good as a couple of the older ones but still enjoyable. It had some well done scenes in it such as the vehicle chase through the woods. Regarding the last bit.
Everything that was postulated on in the film is all based on actual alternative history type theory. The Crystal Skull for example is actually a Mayan relic. There were also 13 of them and they apparently have something to do with preventing the end of the world. Many cultures and some religions talk about man being created by Aliens. This goes all the way back to ancient Sumeria. The idea that the spaceship was hidden underground was kind of interesting but it did remind me a little bit of the Mummy. I also liked the idea that the aliens didn't come from space, but were actually interdimensional. That is another thing that has long been theorized. I give it 3.5/5 |

I went to a midnight showing on Thurs (I couldn't help it) and was just like WTF at the aliens. It just didn't fit, seriously. While I thought the acting was great, the villain was great, old Indy was great, shia was great, but the STORY was totally lacking . I think looking up the crystal skull stuff on wiki actually made the movie better b/c at least then the alien speculation wasn't totally out of nowhere.
In addition to the already mentioned things, I was really disappointed that there was no real puzzle solving in the movie and almost no booby traps! to me, that's what made Indiana Jones so fun and adventurous. |

Good call on the booby traps
you aren't famous till they put your head on a Pez dispenser.... |

Haha. This is what I always say about Sony and the PS3. And yes, Seppuku!! Great point about the lack of puzzles and booby traps. There was that one little tease where Indy tells Shia not to touch anything and you're expecting some crazy booby trap sequence... but nothing! And just the one sand puzzle. (Which was, admittedly, wicked.) |

I was also a bit disappointed in the lack of boobytraps. They used to be used to open up a good action sequence in the older films. This film seemed to rely totally on chase sequences for most of the action scenes.

another tease was when they first get to the grave and pull on one of the ropes in the hole but it doesn't do anything. I was almost positive that that was going to be another temple of doom moment. sigh. surprisingly enough though, i still want to see it again and have been watching lots of extras on the official site. |

If you guys have any interest in finding out some of the background on the Crystal Skull, there was a documentary on sci-fi last week that talked about them and the connection to the Mayans.
It was called "The Curse of the Crystal Skulls. Its probably on youtube. |

I wish Spielberg would kick George Lucas to the curb and make an Indy movie by himself. I would even be ok if Harrison Ford wasn't in it.
I wanted to like this movie, I really did, but there are just too many things that were ludicrous, and they ruined it. The refrigerator, the nuke, the vine swinging, and the aliens... ugh. In the final temple, do those indians like, live in that wall? After Oxsley was there the first time, did they climb back inside the wall and rebuild it? I like Cate Blanchett, but I thought she was just too boring. She doesn't have any kind of menacing air about her. Her character needed to lop off a body part with that sword, or eat a puppy. Then maybe I would've been a little more uptight when she was on screen. It's a shame somebody in a studio thought to capitalize on the name of this franchise. Poor film, poor Henry Jones Jr. |

Absolutely! And Zee is right... the booby traps used to be the beginning of great action sequences. Not just in the iconic Temple of Doom boulder chase. Any good extras on the site? I mean, it is still Indiana Jones. There's so much to love. |

there are some decent "on location" vids that are still fun to watch. there's one where they show all the new hats and leather jackets they had to make.. plus some cool interviews w/the cast, some flashbacks. definitely enjoyable either way.

i really liked the movie.
but it was evident what steven spielberg offered in terms of creativity and what george lucas added in. and that's not a good thing. george lucas needs to just give up and GTFO of the movie industry. skywalker ranch has a couch with his name on it... oh, and he has a turkeyneck. and jarjar was the dumbest character in the history of earth and ruined star wars for lots of people. |
