You're not alone. I saw this last night, the late showing..and I was disappointed as well. It was a good movie..but with all the hype about how scary it was, I just expected a lot more. I mean, I heard people came out of the theater CRYING lol. Like I said though, still good. The idea is incredibly freaky |

So the mighty Lucifer is our closest friend whom we used to take shower together after football match in high school or the girl we used to hit on whom always talked about his ex boyfriend in valspeak since he calls us with a euphemism, 'katie.' Also he shouldn't have run amok in the house to tape everything just to show everything to the audience. I won't comment on the sui generis, idiosyncratic shooting technique, I'd choose Dancer In The Dark anyday though.
This overhyped ******** stole 90 minutes of my life and believe me it's hell lot of important than this bull**** movie. Only thing I liked of it was the Monty Python reference, that's all. Somehow poltergeists don't scare me, may be because I don't believe in anything supernatural. If I go professional one day, I'm going to shoot a horror movie. The plot will be like this: Islam and capitalism take over world and torture anyone who defy them. They will Imprison people, leave them starving, make them work 16 hours a day for $2. (wait, this scenario may have happened before) Brrr, whilst writing I had a shiver down my spine. Also this is a huge marketing trick. A film school teacher taught me that people sometimes have $2 million for a movie. They finish the movie in 3 weeks and spend $20k, the rest goes to advertisement. That's why every other consumer idiot thinks something is 'soooo kewll' just because he/she is told it's cool. Also the executive producer will fool a cable network 2 months later to show their movie on cable. So extra money comes in. I'm glad I found an advertisment dvd and didn't pay for it in a cinema theatre, even though I'm affluent I would rage over my lost penny, rondo e capriccio. This message has been edited. Sometimes, publicity and hype hurts. I would only wonder, if people like Rick were to go see this movie without ANY info from the web or tv. Would they give the same review???
I doubt it. By the time they decided to see this. They knew what was coming. Kinda ruins the fun doesn't it? |

I always wonder about that too. I hated American Pie when I saw it because it just wasn't funny after EVERYONE made the same jokes over and over from it. It was like I had seen the movie without going to the theater. It's not really my type of comedy anyways, but I wonder sometimes if I would have liked it if I had seen it earlier. I'll still probably see this, although my girlfriend won't see it and going to the movies alone is kind of boring. I may wait for the DVD |

The movie has definitely been over-hyped, that much is true.

I agree Jess. .Horrid movie.
Wasn't scared 1 bit, nor was I shocked. It was all very much Led on, and wasn't suspenseful in the slightest bit. Acting wasn't even somewhat decent. I know it's hard to portray a First Person Perspective Movie, but come on. . Cloverfield was done better than this. This was a bunch of loud thuds, and some Baby Powder foot prints. Idk, it just didn't spark my attention at all. I sorta laughed when the BF was egging the Demon on, and sorta ****ing the GF off. . because Who would be this stupid to do this? Honestly?! GTFO!!! just My opinion though. Idk, go see some Real Ghosts, they will scare the F out of you. <3 Real EVP's. . and REAL Shadow People. . . .Waverly Hills > |

No doubt. The sheen has worn off of PA. They should have left it a secret. Much better that way.
There's is little to be said about the difference of, knowing what's coming, as opposed to not knowing at all. |

All I can say is that I wish I had made this movie. The movie was pure crap but DAMN they have made so much off of it. They paid a little less than $12,000 to make the movie and it has made MILLIONS$$$. Good payout for them.

I didn't read throughout the whole thread cause I was worried about spoilers, but I've heard nothing but good things about this movie. I was skeptical about seeing it because it just didn't look that good in the trailers, but after hearing all these good things about it I might have to give it a try. I just hope it doesn't have that whole Blair Witch moving camera thing a lot. I'm assuming it doesn't because from the looks of it the camera is sitting in place a lot
---------------- Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn't work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are soft. |

I just saw this movie. I am so scared now. Any pretty lady want to hold me?
I think the main scare of the movie is that it's invisible and it can pretty much get to you where ever you are. Not the fact that it's not human. I think people are generally afraid of danger they can't see or identify. Lets take darkness for an example. People who afraid of the dark are probably afraid that they can't see in the dark and whatever can lurk in there. It could be a ghost, or a demon. It could possibly be a common burglar, or a rabid dog. Heck it could be a ninja elephant out to assassinate you, but the point is, you don't know whats hiding in the darkness. That's just what I think though. I'm no psyche major or anything. Just good ole Pancake's opinions. |
