That this is the actual spring update They are denying it but how much of this could actually be fake.

It also mentions motion sensing technology and file sharing for select games which gives me hope for Far Cry 2

I'm currently more than just a little pissed at Microsoft right now. A few days ago, I got one of those install updates on my PC for the new XP Service Pack 3. I went ahead and accepted the upgrade, and it wound up crashing my computer, and would not let me reboot it. I had to wind up doing a system restore on it, losing a lot of files in the process. Come to find out that many people with AMD processors on their computers have been having this problem, and that Microsoft is "working on it". Thanks an effin' lot, MS.

Weird, my comp is completely stable after the update.

Same here, but I made sure that I have a recent system restore entry just in case.

I got lucky, in that the system restore didn't wipe out everything on my computer - it left most of the programs and anything on my hard drive intact, so it wasn't a total restore - although I didn't realize this until later the next day. Still, I had a few files that I had merely saved to my desktop (stupid, I know) that are now lost for good.

Here is just one article detailing the problem. Apparently it's primarily computers with AMD processors from HP - which, of course, mine is.

I'm interested to see if that list is valid because I like a lot of the things I'm reading in there. The only thing I don't like is the lack of a DRM fix for payed content (there's one for free content) in there but I'll wait for the actual, official list before saying much about that.

The rumoured Spring Update sounds great, so it's obviously fake.

As for XP SP3 borking your PC, I believe that's called the "Upgrade to Vista" patch.

One of the comments I saw on a blog somewhere said it was the "Let's make Vista look good" patch.
