Hi

I installed BGE on a new machine. It runs fine except that I get all the time a black screen saying "Please insert Beyond Good & Evil CD3". When this happens, it seems impossible to go past this message. It happens at some points in the game, when it accesses the CD I suppose.

After killing the BGE process and restarting the game from the last savegame, when I get to the same point it usually happens again, then after several retries it goes past that point. This is especially frustrating as it happens most often when saving games, it sc***s up my savegame slot and makes me go back to the previous savegame, usually before beating some boss, thank you very much.

This is the original CD. My system is up-to-date with the latest drivers (and is new, by the way). The game has run for some time on another machine (now defunct) without me ever seeing this problem.

Is there a fix for this? I have seen this reported in this forum but I have seen no solution.

There is one solution that I know of, use a <snip> don't encourage warez please

My guess would be that it's some odd incompatibility with the copy protection and your specific hardware configuration. If possible try using a different DVD drive. The fix would be Ubisoft releasing a patch to remove the bugged copy protection from the game, which would also solve compatibility problems with new Windows versions. Unfortunately Ubisoft doesn't care at all and we're unable to help you without breaking the forum rules.
