i installed the game without any issues.

then when i went to play it, it said "please insert beyond good & evil CD3"

so i put in CD3, but after a few seconds it told me the same thing again.
i keep trying and it keeps repeating the same thing, even though i have put in CD3!
please help!

It could be a problem with the copy protection not recognizing your CD drive. Post your dxdiag here (Start > Run... > type "dxdiag" and enter > Save all information... > copy/paste the entire content of the txt file here).

Has anyone a solution for this? I have installed the game on a new machine (my old one on which BGE was installed is dead) and now I have this problem all the time, especially during savegames, which is infuriating!!!

Help please!

Just to me a bit more precise: the game starts fine (most of the time) and I can play maybe half an hour to 1 hour. Then at some point I get this black screen asking me for CD3. When I get this, nothing short of divine intervention (seemingly) will make the game continue. I have to nuke the process. I noticed that if I restart the game immediately afterwards, the issue happens more quickly. If I reboot, I'm back in the initial situation (1/2 hour to 1 hour worth of game).

And for what it's worth... this is a valid copy of BGE that has worked for years on another machine; as far as I can tell, the CD is physically OK (I have run a CD check) and anyway the symptoms don't seem to match a physical CD issue.

I'd really appreciate a solution for this.

One more thing: the game also crashes sometimes (just suddenly stops and returns to windows). It seems to be doing it completely at random. Grrr...

Just to point out the obvious, it's not a pirated copy right?
