I just got this game but havn't been able to get the sound to sync with the video. Both sound and video play at the same speed, but the first 1-2 seconds of every sound clip doesn't play (ex. when the intro starts I immediately hear the news guy talking instead of intro music, then talking). I've tried fiddling with vsync, hardware acceleration, game settings, processor affinity, and the dual-core optimizer. None of them seem to have much affect. The only way to sync the sound is to alt-tab into and out of the game multiple times, but once a new cutscene/soundclip begins to play, it cuts off the begining of the sound again. I have a steam copy of the game and already tried re-installing it. Hope someone can see something I havn't thought of. Here is my dxdiag:

That's really odd, I haven't heard about anyone experiencing this particular problem before and I don't really see anything out of the ordinary with your dxdiag. Did you try reinstalling audio drivers or even revert to older versions? The game (and other games based on the same graphics engine) also suffers from compatibility problems with certain USB devices, so try disconnecting as many as possible to see if that resolves the problem.

Only usb device I use is my mouse. I fiddled with my on-board sound drivers and finally just hooked my tv up to the computer and used my video card's sound device, but both have the same issue. Seems the problem isn't really with the sound devices, but with something they share, or something else entirly. Kinda stumped here.

Solved. Problem was both of my sound devices were running in emulation mode. Had to edit the registry to fix it but now the sound works great. All credit goes to the ubi solution guys for figuring it out.
