Hi Everyone

May I take this opportunity to thank kip0r for providing a temporary home for the Unofficial Patch/Save Editor, until sometime after E3 2004, when hopefully the files will be hosted at a more permanent location.

The BG&E Savegame Editor, BG&E Unofficial Patch, BG&E File Extractor, and BG&E Extractor GUI are located here

I'll update this page as soon as I have more definitive news.

Here is 90% of people's "unfixable" problems.

The copyprotection. . From what I can gleam from the company that does the copyprotection, instead of being a "wrapper" around the executable, the coder actually embeds checking code all over the place. The code actually checks for multiple things that different for each check. Unfortunately, a bug, "most likly" in the installation, causes problems by not setting all of the "variables" that it checks for, but only sometimes . Fortunately, the bugs never seem to include the actual disk checking method and so, it loads up just fine. But since it checks in OTHER areas, you end up with other unexpected bugs like, the Slaughter House no key fall, AND how your save games are saved. I'm not sure what else it affects. With the original disks, you have about a 5-10% chance to get either or both of these bugs. Upgrading with the patch, and this soars to 60-70% chance. This is why some people don't experience the slaughter house bug, and how other people when they reinstall, can't use their save games. The save game bug makes BGAE either save encrypted or not encrypted. Unfortunatly, you can have the slaughter house bug and your save games are encrypt, in which case my patch and my save game editor will not work. But you can also not have the slaughthouse bug and your save game is unencrypted. You can fix the slaughter house bug just by reinstalling until it works, unfortunately, this may make your save games unusable.

The link works, but I can't figure out how the file extractor works. It comes up with a msDos box then it flashs some words for a split second then go's back to the desktop.

And the Save game file editor wopens and I can fiddle with the options but I don't know how to get it to work in BGE.

Any help will be most appreciated.

You need to use the BGextractorgui together with the bgextractor (must be in same folder)

Launch the bgextractorgui.exe and browse for the sallyclean.bf in the BG&E directory.
When that loads you'll see a load of internal files such as *.wad *.wam *.waa ect.

highlight them so you can extract them.

The most useful ones are the *.bik files as they are actually the in-game cutscenes. You can use Rad Tools (google) to view them.

The save file editor should be stuck in the same folder as BG&E
if you launch it it will automatically load the sav file where you can adjust the numerous options to basically alter your save game.
Just save the new settings and then launch the game.

I think wirapuru shares my sentiments exactly. Thank you so much for fixing the main hall issue. I really do appreciate that someone fixes ubisofts half assed releases (omg final fantasy 7 was the worst)

Now if only someone could figure out the nvidia driver bug that takes my framerates from 100+ to 4-9 whenever there is any water around. The only way I can play it is by reverting back to archaic driver versions.
