I bought the game for $6 a month ago and have never been able to play the game. The installer exits immediatly when trying to copy the 32-bit copy protection files from the 3rd disc. Since those files are 32-bit Vista x64 freaks out and rejects those files which causes the installer to suddenly stop. I can install the game in Windows XP and then copy the whole directory over to Vista X64 but when running the .exe I get an error to the effect that Beyond Good and Evil is not installed correctly. I tried copying over every registry entry that was in XP, but don't know if I got them all. Still didn't work. I then tried installing a 64-bit version of the copy protection driver. Still didn't work. Since I tried to install it a month ago I have given up trying to get the game working. This may be a shot in the dark, but I thought I'd ask people here if they had any luck with it. Thanks!
Sorry if I'm not of much help with your problem. But the problem you are experiencing with BG&E It not in only in this game. Most games/apllications have problem with 64 bits operating systems not only this game. The 64 bit architecture is still in a inmature state (Is still not the standard) with the time it will but it seems for that we ha to wait some years it not gonna be inmediately The only I can suggest is that you return to some 32 bit Windows XP or 32 Bit Vista. for Vista I don't know if runs I haven't tested this game on it. or at least make dual boot Let your XP 64 but let a XP 32 bit setup in another partition too
Adam is correct, it's indeed the copyprotection drivers causing this. At this point I don't think anyone succeeded in running it on XP/Vista 64 bit, and we're not exactly allowed to discuss the methods needed to make it work here.
I got the game working. I downloaded the game from Hit-Points (Direct2Drive) and installed it. It runs great! I basically got it free when I signed up for 1 year of IGN Insider.
Im trying to get the game to work under vista 64bit too. With a normal install, the installation just quits after it asks for cd3. However, using compatibility mode for win98 does make it possible to install the game. (it launches like 20+ setup.exe apps and you have to manually shut some down using task manager. Then with some luck (2 outta 4 times) the installation will work) However after having it installed, I cant get the game to work... not even in compatibility mode. Installation of the patch worked without any hassle but didnt fix the problem. If some1 knows of a way to fix this pls help
