I, like many people here, am using a PSX-USB convertor to use a PS2 dual shock 2 gamepad with BG&E PC version.

I would like to know how the controller is set up for the PS2 version so I can set up JoyToKey to match for the PC version.

Thanks in advance.

I have looked around but can only find a config setup for a Gamecube controller Frown

Anybody out there know of a good PS2 guide or who owns BG&E on PS2 who could tell me the controller setup?

I hate to be a n00b, but can you point me in the right direction for said PS2 forum? I could only find 3 BG&E forums here.

No dice on that front either.

I'm just hoping that a PS2 player eventually reads this thread VeryHappy

You should check out Gamefaqs.com
In most walkthroughs there are controls too

That is where I checked. The only config I could find in detail was for GameCube.

The guide for PS2 for on a pay site Frown (ign.com).

I'm nearly done the game so I guess it doesn't really matter? Ah well.

Sorry, if this is too late, Talus_100. May be of help to others in that case.
Hmm... I'm discovering paper game guide is inaccurate and somewhat confusing--the in-game cues were more useful. Maybe you can utilize on-screen prompts if you figure what maps to what. (abrreviated below: C=Circle, T=Triangle, S=Square, X=X, R3=Press down on Right Stick)

General:
  • Start=Game Menu/Pause
  • Select=Map/Objectives Menu (R1 to zoom on map, Right stick change floor level)
  • Left Stick=Navigate menu/move
  • X=confirm, Validate
  • C=cancel
  • T=back, dismiss menu
  • S=Previous page? (so says booklet--I use triangle)
  • D-pad=change selected object (L/R), change selected companion (U/D) if more than one

Main:
  • Left Stick=Move
  • Right Stick=Position 3rd person view camera behind Jad, Pan and zoom photo camera (after R1)
  • R3=Center 3rd person camera behind
  • R1=Enter/Exit Photo camera/Gyro-disk Look or Aiming mode (X=take photo, C=fire disk)
  • R2=Accelerate or Run
  • L1=Crouch (or Stealth, according to paper guide)
  • L2=L1 or N/A
  • X=Attack, hold for Super Attack, repeatedly during aerial phase of Super to fire if upgraded, execute Action displayed below Jade icon, fire vehicle weapon (hold to lock-on target with cannon), force jump, unhook
  • C=use object to right of Jade icon
  • D-pad=change selected object/companion
  • S=Dive, Roll with L1, Dodge side-to-side with Dai-Jo; Hovercraft jump, release/connect to Beluga
  • T=Execute companion Special Attack (action below companion icon); Compass, or 1st person view in vehicle ("Interior View")

Nothing terminates or cancels a cutscene or the Credits (as might be expected by <escape> key). It says the Start button "Pauses" the game, but I think the total timer clock still runs. Wondering how the PC version differs....

That's a digest of a dozen or so pages. I hope you find it at least useful on your second or third time through. Wink I couldn't even run the demo on my archaic 32MB Radeon AIW. Frown

BTW, I consider the PS2 version flawless. Razz Silky smooth and no glitches! (Through many enjoyable hours.)

Thank you thank you thank you.

No, you're not too late. I have been playing Battlefield Vietnam lately so I haven't finished playing through BF&E yet. But I will now Wink
