I m having a weird kind of sound problem in BG&E . When I run the game . as soon as the game loads , a weird loud sound is heard , then after a while it stops . Then when I start a new game , that loud sound happens again throughout the opening movie and game..... I can barely hear a very low sound of the game itself in the background. e.g. when Jade speaks , I hear a very low voice of her. That stupid , weird loud sound has eaten my head!!!!!! I eben upgraded my sound drivers but the problem is stil there . I wonder if the problem is with the music of the game , but what ever it is , SOMEONE PLZ HELP ME OUT !!!

All I can see is that you have a Virtual drive installed
Drive: I: Model: H+H DVD-ROM DVD-707B SCSI CdRom Device Driver: c:\windows\system32\drivers\cdrom.sys, 5.01.2600.1106 (English), 8/29/2002 18:50:10, 47488 bytes You should really uninstall that because Ubi games act strangely with them. But your problem is related to a sound issue which is a bit out of my depth. However, I have edited the Topic to grab gnogtr's attention - He knows much more than me Regards Bitebug2003 ----- |

Did the sound work fine before you got the new sound drivers? If so, back date the drivers, I know the new AC97 drivers screwed my laptop up.

This problem has nothing to do with my sound drivers , I m sure abt it , also no virtual Cd porblem . It is something else....
When I installed the game , it starts installing sally_clean.bf the big sized file , then it asks for CD 2 and then 3 but after Cd 3 , instead of intalling other files including games exe , it again asks for CD1 and is still doing something with sally_clean.bf and then it does the same procedure again , when I opened the games installed directory , I saw that sally_clean.bf is already there having its complete 2.02 GB size and the installer is doing something with another file . So I ended the installation , started it again , giving the same location and when the installer saw that sally_clean.bf is already completely there it did'nt overwrite it and asked directly for CD 3 and installed remaing files. That's how I've installed the game , so maybe there is a problem due to this weird kind of installation . I've tried many time but I can only install the game this way. Also there is no problem with my windows . Wat should I do ? |

Looks like you have a faulty installer.
Only way is to get a replacement I would imagine. Or.. perhaps it has something to do with your filesystem. I personally dont use NTFS so I am not sure if that causes the weird installation procedure. Have you tried contacting the Official UBI Technical Support about this? ----- |

Ok Thanks , now I'll do something abt it.

Man, i also got these 2 problems... the installation must be done that: in the 3rd CD, when it calls the 1st CD, it's just hit 'cancel', exit the installation and begins again that will terminate the instalattion... yeah, it's a very weird bug and a very serious fault of UBISOFT... i don't have CDRW nor DVDRW, just virtual CD's, and maybe this is the cause, but it's a lot of fault on UBI team's...
On the sound problem, i must do the following: before starts the game, i turn the sound OFF, and after I select "new game" and the video introduces I hit "alt+tab", and turn the sound ON in the mixer... the sound problem it's just in that initial video... after that, it's OK... sometimes it **** in the begin video also, but only sometimes... Try to do that scheme on the sound (turn off in the "windows mixer", start the game, and after you begin a new game, when you already are controlling Jade, hit "alt+tab" and turn the sound ON in the windows mixer again... everything should be fine...) bye _________________________________ Yeah, my english is bad cause I'm... Try turning down the accelaration of your soundcard to about midway, then if the problem stops, clock it up a notch. Keep doing so until the problem goes away. Also check that you dont have background applications using DX9 sound, media players can cause this, especially if you have winamp open but not playing anything - using the DirectSound driver.
Also, turn off EAX reverb in the BG&E settings. As a precaution to stop mild humming (very very quiet humming and cracks), mute CDaudio, Line In, Microphone and PC Speaker. Disable 3D depth. All this can be done from the Volume/Mixer controls provided by Windows. One other thing that you can try out is disabling Digital CD Audio, sometimes you can get cross over if your sound is onboard. You can turn it off from Control Panel -> System Properties -> Hardware. Select the CD/DVD drive you use to listen to CD's and then open the properties for this device, find and uncheck the "digital audio" checkbox. All of the suggestions I have given are simply suggestions, they may be way outside the ballpark, but what's the harm in trying? If they make no change, feel free to put your settings back to how they were, especially digital cd audio otherwise some of your CD vis' wont work in WMP or winamp Good luck! ------ |
