Ubisoft, is there any news? Can I play the game at X-mas, or should I return it at the shop? I still hope for a decent solution.

Also here a faulty CD2 in the box. Already went back to the reseller to get a replacement disc, but againb the same problem occurs! We bought the games at DIXONS, The Netherlands. Regarding all reactions on this post I am afraid UBISOFT has released a big faulty batch of games in the Netherlands. They must respond to all these calls for help, but it seems they do not want to take the effort of seriously look into their dutch customers. It's a big shame.

Please UBISOFT Support team: give us a good and quick solution for our problem, you could loose a lot of faithfull UBISOFT customers here!!! Also make contact to your resellers.....

By the way: this game was a present to my girlfriend....what a dissapointment when the error occurred twice in a row :-(

SOLUTION

Copy the entire content of the CD2 in to a folder called "BGE_CD2" on the desktop.

During the installation process, when asked for CD2 browse and check the directory "BGE_CD2", then press ok.
The second disc should install correctly now.

It worked for me,hope it helps.

I already tried this, but the second disk can't be copied to hard disk. It causes a data error at the very last part of it. So, it realy is a corrupt disk. Again, Ubisoft is there any news?

Dear Ubi Soft,

I received a copy of Beyond Good and Evil this Christmas and today was the first time I had the chance to try it out. I live in the Netherlands (that means im also Dutch) and I bought the game at the "Media Markt" in Rotterdam. Same error as the rest in the data3.cab file. As a fact I tried every possible solution I could think of, being a programmer myself I think I can assure u this is a hardware error and this is probably a huge scale problem. Maybe releasing a patch with the missing/corrupt file in the .cab directory could overcome this issue. Just m 2 cents

Gerben. (not the other Gerben I just happen to have the same name)

People,

I changed the game with UBI soft. The send me a new one. That one worked. But notice if you have windows xp with a dvd rom or dvd writer in it you should copy all three disks to a folder on your hard drive. It should contain three folders named disk1 disk2 and disk3.Then install it from the folder. Download the patch 1.01. And play it with the 3th disk in you dvd/cd player.

The adres of UBI in the Netherlands is:

Ubi Soft Entertainment BV
Rijnzathe 7/A4
3454PV De Meern
The Netherlands

They were very nice to send me one in 4 days.

Good luck to u all.

Jack
PS the second disk of the old batch is faulty, it has nothing to do with your hardware. It has nothing to do with your system. Bad production.

Well, let me join the queue ...

I also gave this game to my girlfriend for XMas ... and also I received the redundancy error on disc 2.

My story ...

Bought game at InterToys ...

*Error on disc 2.
*Format system, clean install WinXP >> Error Disc 2
*Tried my DVD-Rom iso DVD-RW >> Error Disc 2
*Tried different system at friends place >> Error Disc 2
*Tried system at parents place >> Error Disc 2
*Send 3 (THREE!!) mail to support of UBI >> No reply Frown
*Exchanged discs at InterToys for new ones >> Error Disc 2
*Finally found this forum and discovered I'm not alone!

What to do next? Frown And what is UBI going to do about it?

[Dutch Mode]
Ja jongens, ik heb ook alles geprobeerd en voel me nu ondertussen wel in de steek gelaten door Ubi :|

Yeah, it's very frustrating. It's already one month after I purchased the game and still no solution. The shop owner keeps suggesting it's a videocard issue, which is very unlikely considering you even can not copy CD2 to hard disk. Also tried 3 PC's and 4 CD ROM drives.

I'm not very impressed by UBI's customer service. I have much beter experience with Microsoft recently (personal reply after few days). Why didn't Ubi Soft inform the shops in The Netherlands about this problem, so I can exchange the game for a good working one. I wrote to Ubi Soft in The Netherlands and am waiting for an answer.

But, it's good to know that you're not alone.

Ubi Soft: Good tip: let people download the correct disk2 from the internet, so they can install from hard disk.

Yep, same problem with me, also Dutch, also data3.cab problem, also already third copy from the shop, also tried on 2 different PC's.
Seems that a lot of erroneous disks were shiped.
And the suggested solutions does not work with me, disk just won't copy because CRC problem.
I am glad I could read this thread on the forum, so I didn't start reinstalling XP or something like that.
I'll send the whole package to Ubisoft here in the Netherlands and hope they will solve the problem. The people in the store (Bart Smit) just don't know what to do about this.
I'll keep you guys posted

Too bad UBI isn't giving a reply anywhere ... I also contacted the support website and posted a question, updated it 3 times even.

No reply from any part of Ubi ... this is starting to look like a Electronic Arts BF1942 issue ... Sell game and release a solution a few month's later. Frown

I wish I could try the solution some people posted here, that is coping the discs to harddrive and install it from there, however, I send my game to UBI-Soft a month ago with the letter I posted in this forum.

No reply yet of any significance from them. I did not get any replacement discs either, so I guess they are out of discs or my letter got lost in the paperwork at the dutch complaintsdepartment of UBI-Soft.

I am going to write another letter, I will post it here ASAP, but I must say I am very dissapointed.

Well ... I'm now OFFICIALLY dissapointed as wel ... I've send my disc last Monday to UBI, and today I got my disc back by mail. Yes gentz and peepz, I got my own FAULT disc back with this letter attached:

.

.

A short translation of the letter:

"Yes, a faulty batch of discs has been produced. Please return your game to the shop and ask for a refund."

Wow!!! What a great support! I get my money back and I still can't play the game.

Ubi Netherlands, shame on you!
