I just got a ATI 9800XT and tried to play this game. The whole pc crashed when I got out of the "mango" garage Smile and fight with the green snake. My question is: how to disable antialiasing in 9800XT? I looked at the "direct3D" tab in the advanced display window and it seemed that you can only minimize the AA to the lowest level but cannot disable it. Also, is the AA feature a big issue? Is there anyone who enable AA and still be able to finish this game? Thanks.

Thanks for the info, gnogtr.

After thoroughly browse all the posted articles regarding tech issues, I got some ideas and was able to fix my pc crash problem. I list my debugging history below for people who might find them helpful.

1. Installed patch v1.01 but the pc still crashed when fighting with green snake outside of the garage.

2. I lowered all my in-game settings to the minimum, disable AA, and the game still crashed. It makes sense since ATI 9800XT should be able to handle the game easily even in maximum setting.

3. Re-installed the game but it still crashed at the same spot. In fact when I installed the game 1st time (using CD-RW), like some other people did I also got some error messages asking me to put disc 1 back in. But this happened right in the end of installation process so I simply ignored them by clicking at "cancel" dozen times. Unfortunately, the error messages happened again in my 2nd time installation (using CR-ROM) in the middle of the process so I had to give it up. The installation process finally got through for the 3rd time (using CD-ROM) without any error. The differences I made this time are:
a. Swapped CDs and clicked "ok" IMMEDIATELY when asked (I know this is a little bit paranoid)
b. I partitioned my HD into C (with \WINNT) and D. 1st and 2nd time the game was installed in D drive, but this time it is in the C drive (default installation path to be exact)
I have a hunch that the 2nd change might be the reason that installation is ok. Or maybe you just have to install the game several times until it works.

4. Update sound card driver (SB Audigy LS) to the lastest version and NO MORE CRASHES SO FAR (no game patch installed). This makes sense now because when my pc crashes, not only the screen went blue, but also a low-pitch noise kept coming from my speakers. In the latest SB driver release note is also says: "Resolves the system stall and system restart issues that are associated with selected game titles".

I just got this game this week and I am grateful to this forum that provides valuable information to help me solve my problem. I am just at the beginning stage of the game and I might see other bugs or crashes in the future. But what the heck. One bug at a time Smile. As long as you are patient and persistent you can get the game done and you always learn something from the debugging process.
