And it's highly unlikely Abkhazians could have gotten a hold of K-13 AAMs to shot the UAV down.

Chechnya tried to get independence in the 90s with the help of West. It didn't work. Abkhazia and South Osetia won Goergia and they will become sovereign countries in near future. You gave illegal independence to Kovoso. Guess who we are gonna give it?
and if you don't see the differences between Putin and Saakashvili - get a slasses. Putin is a man who rebuilt Russia. And stop with the KGB thingie...it was no more dangerous than CIA Mocking
And Saakashvili is a puppet who is doing whatever the White House will tell him. He's nuts. In 2006 he blamed Russia for snow blizards in Georgia. Veryhappy He is lie a little dog - barking when the masters tells him to.
Lets leva political talk and only discuss video from now Razz

P.S> about UAV - Russia and Abkhazaia HAVE right to shoot Georgian planes in that area because it's a conflict zone and not a single side must use it's aviation there. Russia Mig (if it's true) was sent jsut to shoot down the spy plane. NAughty UAV got it and MiG went home...case closed! Profile

How do I know what did Saakashivli said? Guess what - I watch news on TV. EuroNEws, CNN, BBC etc...and they translated it into English. And don't tell me do keep away from policy - I said in my last post I don't want to talk about it either. I'm just saying that this guy is a puppet controlled from Washington and a liar!

Oh and about oil prices. YOu know if there was Yeltsin still running Russia even with oil price of 16 dollars Russia would have collapsed because of that....that....one word - traitor! Angry

In all respect to the original poster, I do not believe you will ever see Abkhazia and South Ossetia become independent for two reasons.

First, unlike Kosovo, no one will recognize them aside from Russia. Russia may get some friends in the SCO to agree and support, but not China, as China has no interest in setting precedents for autonomous regions becoming independent. Without China, that leave Russia and some of the Central Asian states, which is not enough to create any kind of legitimacy for the new states.

Secondly, the regions are too small to function in any real way. They only sustain themselves now with Russian support. Russia plays a risky game by pushing for the independence of these areas because one has to ask the logical question, if yes to Abkhazia and Ossetia, why no to Chechnya? If Georgia was not Western leaning this would be a non-issue. Russia's only interest is in making life difficult for the T'blisi government as punishment for its anti-Russian stance.

I guess I should point out that I am not pro Georgian, and there is no doubt that for every questionable act perpetrated by Russian actors there is a questionable act perpetrated by Georgians. However, I disagree with the original poster's statements throughout this topic as having bought too much into the hype put out by the Russian government. While I realize that the automatic response will be that we are all victims of propaganda in North America as well, I should point out that I am trying to maintain an unbiased stance and I am familiar with material originating from both sides of the issue.

@ Max-Jet: In what way so you hope this game is better than Lock On?

Russia doesn't care. West recognized Kosovo, now Russia will recognize Osetia and Abkhazia...case closed

My point is not regarding if Russia cares. My point is that Russia alone cannot recognize these regions and expect it to make any difference. Kosovo was recognized by most of Western Europe and North America. The two are different. Stating Russia will recognize these areas makes as much sense as stating that Canada will recognize Chechnya; the net effect is zero.
