Yeah I really think this missile should be nerfed so that It actually WORKS the way it does in SINGLE MISSION mode. Online, it's an automatic hit on the target no matter the maneuvers pulled off, it takes no skill to use it. Hell you could even be facing the wrong way and still hit your target! That's just weird! The lock on from any angle is fine but you should at LEAST have your target in front of your nose to some degree! It is really annoying to only have THREE flares unless you use the AA support pack where you in this case get 8, to waste trying to shake off 20 all aspect missiles. The enemy can fire 6 missiles, and still have 14 left, and 10 is enough to down you depending on what game mode your hull setting is set to. (Hardcore is awesome, realistic OH YEAH! but not with AA.)

What is really fun is to get behind your target and follow him until he makes the wrong move, which is when you fire. If you are able to tell the difference of a mistake & opportunity or fire & Hope for the best.

Of course this leads us to the very fun "Joint Strike Only" Missile dogfights. MAN I love these dogfights! But this doesnt give us a chance to get all of our achievements to level faster.

Well that's my thoughts about the way to agile AA-Missile. Nerf it. Please. Pleeaaase. It's lame to not be able to do anything but fly in circles and drop flares! The opponent isn't even sweating! He's just flying around waiting for you to drop all your flares until he has you right where he wants you! And there is NOTHING YOU CAN DO! (Except fly away to get out of range, but that would be like saying COME SHOOT ME)

While tracking my opponent, I pride myself for being able to know where I can safely fly outside of their normal lock on areas.

I don't TDM anymore because I hate flying past a loser pilot whose all aspects cut in, where he shouldn't even be locked on.

It takes a hungry falcon to shoot Smoke down, and a fat beaver to let their missiles do it for them.

When I actually had the game (traded it off for IL-2 after I got the platinum), I could have been considered a falcon with a pot-belly.

Plus, it doesn't take an engineer to figure out the simple fact the the all aspect missiles are for very close range, so the simple solution would be to simply avoid the merge.

Anyways, the lag I experienced was far more of a threat then any missile system in the game!!

Play on realistic, they only get 2 of those, while you keep your 3 flares or use a TOP plane; you get 8 flares.

I don't mind a few AA missiles but when you see someone launching 4 in one shot. It brings up some serious questions, then again this is the same guy. When he hosts a game he some how has access to AA missiles while everyone does not.

Anyways, he/she is at the top of my S-list.

Exactly. Now while this game is far from being a sim, the realistic setting forces features that I personally loved.

- A cockpit only viewpoint.
- Only what your plane can carry in weapons.
- One missile hit will kill you in most cases.

I figured on my F-35 (with my missiles), I had at minimum 3 kills per "life", and at maximum, 5 kills, while having 3 defensive actions using countermeasures.

Regardless, unless you got kills with the guns, your missiles were doing anywhere from 50-100% of your work. Perhaps this reason alone is why I like WW2 gunfights.

It's just too bad lag ruined the experience for me on HAWX, I would have kept the game alot longer.

there was a time when an honor system actually worked. that is - the players in question agreed to, for example, not use a weapon - and no one used it. this negated the need for nerfing anything at all.

i blame the loss of comradeship on MMO's. Smile

A server title, description and chat room would have helped on that too.

I go into the TDMs at times with a plane carrying AAs but I don't use them until someone shoots me down with AAs at that point, it becomes a free for all with AAs.

I agree, the lag is more of a problem than the AAs

Good players don't whine about what weapons they get killed with, they just learn and adapt. Staying out of their range or just killing them first is the better solution, imo... Big Grin

You just put it perfectly MC.

You said, "...what *weapons* they get killed with."

If a pilot shoots me down with literally any weapon in the game other than all aspects, then it is the player's kill. The player.

As soon as the all aspects start flying, it becomes the weapon's kill. The missiles should get the exp, not the player.

And staying out of range is not an acceptable solution. The 'fuzzball' I believe its called; I have the most fun right in the middle of it all, friends and enemies encompassing you. I shouldn't have to lose that, or my 7 streak, because of these missiles.

Anyone else, if you don't want to read any more about whether or not these missiles should be around, well then why are you?

I've never seen lag over the PSN, mostly from midnight to 3 or so eastern. If my MTAAs always actually fired though, that'd been swell.

Of course a missile is a weapon, no one is disputing that. If it's anything other the machine guns however, you did nothing but allow the auto lock, and press fire. Yes, I understand that each missile (weapon system) requires a different tactic/understanding to use, but in the end, it's nothing more then a point and click. In my book, if you gun me down, bravo.

So go ahead landon_326, in your own mind, you can say player "X" did not shoot you down, because the scoreboard will say the complete opposite. Not sure why that burns you so much.

Quoting YOU -- "While tracking my opponent, I pride myself for being able to know where I can safely fly outside of their normal lock on areas."

Staying out of range is not an "acceptable solution"? I found it worked quite well against the all-aspects missiles. It's a viable strategy to employ. A multi-target missile fan such as yourself should be to appreciate that tactic. As a case in point, several of the videos you post are nothing more then you spamming the multi-target missiles at longer ranges, I am confused by your akward stance.

Yes. Lag. For those with weaker connections and to those who did not actually host games, lag was present. For some, it was worse then others. Ubisoft is notoriuos for host-advantage in their console games, with Rainbow Six on the 360 being one of the worst. So you didn't experience lag after midnight? Sorry, but I was in bed at that time, for life doesn't afford the me luxury to play games that late. I usually played between 7pm to 10pm mountain time. In all likelihood, peak hours in my timezone.

It's all relevant to the individual, you know?

EDIT - Just noticed this. It's called a "furball" not a "fuzball" Smile

MC - We actually agree on this. I had to re-read it to make sure I was correct, though! Big Grin
