You're definitely not a bad pilot at all. We were both weened on playing AC to develop our chops. I'm sure you've played other flight games like I have, but it was the endless hours dogfighting in AC that likely gave us the bulk of our abilities. Yeah, it's easy to get complacent about the usual score against the usual player. The majority of pilots out there pose little problem. It's usually an issue of "avoid AAs" (though there was surprisingly little of that last night for a while), and that's all. There's a relatively small percentage of decent pilots and an even smaller one of really good ones. It's those that end up more fun. The challenge of actually having to fight for your kills and all that. Then there are the one on one challenges. I like having it where both you and your opponent are using the same aircraft (I let them choose), same weapon pack (barring AAs, of course). There, the ONLY real difference is player skill. No outclassing their aircraft or ordnance or anything. Just skill versus skill. I've had practice using all the aircraft in the game (minus DLC), except for maybe the Su-25 as it's a pain against anyone not also in the same aircraft. If I can handle any ride, any weapon pack, then I can feel confident that if I take an inferior jet, I can still win. It helps to get that practice, to make you more versatile. Plus the same aircraft over and over gets boring. I agree with the use of cannons, as Maka said. It's a way to conserve ammo. Your goal is to stay alive as long as possible (not just get the most kills). It's good to mix up ordnance. Plus it teaches you how to stick to someone like glue. I've played with and against some of the forumers here. Some are VERY good, and some have become friends. D7 and I were part of a "crew" that used to routinely play together. When we made up a four man team, we were pretty much guaranteed to win. We've taken 4 MiG-21s, 4 F-117s (us only using JS), 3 jets where we were deflecting off each other and only 1 of us killing, 4 F-4Gs with 2 of us deflecting and only 2 of us killing, etc., and we've won all those matches. As a whole, I'm of the impression we are just about the best (on the PS3, of course. PC? Who knows? heh) All of this sounds very braggy, but the matches mentioned are true (many documented) and my opinion is simply that, my opinion. Last night sucked for me just because of how 2 months not playing any flying games (or shooters of any kind) results in some awkwardness in-game. I couldn't remember which button was the thrust, which were missiles, and the view was...odd. It's takes a while to get back into the swing of things, and I can't say I'm coming back as a regular HAWX player. Sporadic, maybe, but nothing more than that. In any case, it's all in good fun and not something to be taken seriously. Side note: why do I always make walls of text? Sorry, people. _______________________________ http://www.myspace.com/nonesonon http://www.youtube.com/adnihilis - HAWX videos. PSN: Adnihilis-II HAWX Callsign: Black |

I agree about seeing true skill in a one vs one, smae jet match, however I don't like one vs one matches because you just do circles around each other most of the time. I try to fly away and break the circle or turn a different direction and I'm right in the enemy's sites, that just isn't that much fun.
Bragging is okay if you are good. I also know what you mean about not knowing which button to push in the split second that you would have needed to push it to do something amazing. I think, for the PS3 at least, Hawx has an amazing controller set up, but if you are used to opposite triggers for thrust/brake and yaw, well it is like anything else, we get used to it. |

I was watching the video I spoke of recently again. In it, my multi AAs, they failed to fire but cost me the missiles and reloading times on three different occurances.

My least favorite bug in the entire game right there. And yes, 1v1s in identical planes are likely to degenerate into a circle fight where the person who breaks the circle always dies every time, and if the jets are different, the faster turning one just guns down the guy in the circle. Pretty boring in general, unless the other player isn't that good, then you get a few laughs, then killing them over and over gets boring. PSN: Durandal7 HAWX Callsign: D7 |

Yep, one of the many annoying bugs in this game.

Not necessarily if you use Off mode, you'll get some very interseting and tight 1v1 dogfights, however this isn't as useful in a 4v4. |

I just didn't remember which was which. It'd been a couple months since the last time I played. It always happens to me whenever I come back to a game after a period of not playing it. You get used to a new game's controls and forget the old ones' heh. _______________________________ http://www.myspace.com/nonesonon http://www.youtube.com/adnihilis - HAWX videos.
