First of all, I am totally new to any arcade flight game. I have tried a little (very little) of FS2004, which is a sim. I am not really into shoot em' up. I bought HAWX because I was recommended, to try the free flight part of it, as the graphics were supposed to be great.

I can't complain of the graphics at all, since (to me) they look fantastic. I am not a gamer as such, so I wouldn't know if they were great, but for me they are.

Unfortunately I am so new to it all, that I am unable to get thru a third of the first mission. I don't really want to get thru it. I just want to use the free flight part. I was not told, when purchasing, that I had to complete missions to get the free flight.

I contacted Ubisoft and was told "It's a problem to be discussed in the forums". Well, that means what??

I guess I need to find some kind of cheat to get thru the first mission? That is exactly what Ubisoft implied to me.....

So, do I find something here that fixes it? Or do I just toss the game and go on to something else?

Ummm, the first mission...you just need to shoot the 10 or so stationary targets, use your missiles.

Simply lock your targets and launch missiles on them. Worst case, you can always host a COOP game and wait for other players to join and help you out. (COOP is in multiplayer section)

I guess I'm missing something. I have shot all the ground vehicles that are in three groups on the outskirts of the city, besides several helicopters.

Then I went into the city for "the rescue", cleared all the tanks and then the second wave comes right back in. I can't shoot 5 choppers and 7 tanks in the few seconds allowed, before the ground troops get fried. It's just not possible for me. I never get a wingman to shoot anything and I just can't manuver that fast or well.

Well over 20 ground vehicles, more like 30 from my count of the dead and when the mission ends, because the ground troops die, it shows about 30% completed.

So what am I missing here?

Well as for multi player, I've never done that and probably never will. I don't get into the online game thing. I just play on my PC and that's it. I guess it's been years since I tried an arcade game. Y'all younguns must live and breathe this stuff, to do it so easily.

I just thought there might be a way arount it, as the "Tech People" hinted about.....

The full profile will probably not help since you can not pick your plane for the first mission. I think there is a mod to remove those constraints but I can't find it anymore.

You could also watch videos of the first mission and learn from those.

Oh damn, I forgot that the full profile also unlocks the free flight mode. Nice one Zedex.

Was their tone rude or dismissive when you were told to come to the forum? In the end, they're proven right in that it's forumers who'll be the only ones to help. Glad you got your free flight mode, though.
