true, true I like the arguments guys. There is one thing however y are forgetting. OGF is a franchise series, it all started with a little game for the dreamcast called energy airforce. Plus, Ubisoft published IL-2 the most realistic WW2 Sim on the market. Ubisoft also has released silent hunter 4. So what makes anyone think that sales have anything to do with it? Face it guys, whatever happens happens, no amount of forum posting is going to change ubisoft's mind from realistic to arcade or vice versa. Ubisoft has proven it is completley capable and willing to publish quality simulations and it has also produced arcade games. I do not know what future lies for HAWX, but I hope it includes realism, not 50+ innacurate missiles flying around and attempting to hit people... That style of gamesply just makes for a bunch of planes flying around in circles uselessly trying to shoot at each other. If anyone thinks that is fun, I don't have any words for them, because I myself think that that style of play is boring. Now, what is fun is actually having to dodge an incoming missile with some crazy well thought out maneuver while trying to smoke the aggressor at the same time. AC6 did not provide that, over-g kind of provided that, Lo-Mac hit it right on the mark. Lets face it, flight games don't belong on the console. They belong on the computer where the sheer amount of controllability is actually available through peripherals and an old fashioned mouse and keyboard.

Just set up the controls like Blazing Angels so you can switch them if you want.

But would the average consumer recognize Over G being related to Energy Airforce versus Ace Combat 6... related to ace combat 5, and 4, and so on. And it isn't the fact that Ubisoft published these titles, it is the name Tom Clancy. Just to clarify my arguments. |

So far, looking at the poll results, more people want this game to be sim. I hope the devs pay attention to this and try to leave out, at the least, alot of the arcade elements they might have on the drawing boards. Depending on the current stage of development, I hope it's not too late for them to make the game more realistic.

how can it be a sim if there are going to be 16 player online skirmishes. What are you going to do with 6 missiles? How can you completely pwn the other team then with only 6 missiles

BCT has a point. HAWX has 16 player skirmishes, over 50 planes. There's a slight chance it won't be a sim.

You'll have to be GOOD, not just lucky or a spammer. Besides, half of 16 is 8 (if we go with two even teams), and most modern jets carry at least 8 missiles. So, there you go. Again, this assumes one actually has enough SKILL to shoot down the bandits and doesn't rely on having 30 missiles to shoot at each enemy. And besides, if you run out of missiles, a real pilot will bug out, or close to guns range and kick ass - not ***** about how he's out of missiles. Anytime, Baby! |

Umm....if you have 6 missles, that's 6 targets you can take out on the other team. Which leaves them with 2 planes left. And if you miss, then that's why you have other players on your team. Oh, and F-22 can carry far more than just 6 missles. You must be talking about maybe an F-16 or something. An arcade multiplayer would suck. 100+ missles per plane? There's no fun in that. The real fun is having one missle left, enemy on your six, and a target in your sights with a solid lock. That's fun. |

No, let's clarify. That's the real fun to you. To other people the 'real fun' could be something completely different. All this means is that there should be options at the Host level for setting a certain style of play. -Gel214th System Specs for Tech Support: Dell 710H2C|Quad Core|4 Gig RAM|8800GTX SLI|X-FI|24" Monitor |

Nah. If you want the arcade-y, 100+ missiles style of play, there's already a game for that - it's called Ace 6 and it blows (though, it looks purty). Anytime, Baby! |

It's more than enough, don't waste ammo or missiles, it's how it goes in real life. What they can adopt is the way they do in battlefield games where you're allowed to reload the airplane's weaponry and repair the hull by going to the airfield base. I think what people in Arcade kind of game are used to see is millions of missiles crossing the skies, that's not at all realistic, it's just a flying machine with few missiles and some rounds. And like in all realistic games, learn not to waste your stuff, or you'll find short of it. Posted by Lex, the best paladin in the world |

This game will be a sim, I can feel it. UBI romania produces silent hunter 4 and blazing angels, now if they just combine the two. Super realism + OGF style play with planes. However one thing is for sure, it will be interesting how a team that is famous for making WW2 games tackles a Modern flight game.

I know I am one person, out of probably a couple million, so I only talk to the people I know, that like Flight Games, but I think that Ubi will make a cross game between Arc. and Sim. If this game is based off the GRAW series, then it is bound to be a little arcadish, because GRAW2 was definatly not a totally real game. Think about it. A squad of guys pretty much take out all of Mexico City by themselves, Mitchel survives a Nuclear Bomb, and unless the military is way more advanced than I thought, the team had HUDs on their sunglasses.
Now I dont really know if the military has a Ghost Recon Unit, and if they do then I may be blabbering on about non-sense, but I dont even think that the USN SEaLs could do that if they had a team of 40 guys. So my prediction, and that is what it is, nothing more, nothing less; is that this will be a mix. Also for the campaign/story, I am sure they could do like AC and have a selection of diffficulty that makes it more real as you get harder. |

Not just real fun for me, take a look at the poll results for this thread, that's fun for alot of people, not just me. |
