I myself am adopted as well, and while I wouldn't turn down a chance to meet my real mother, I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Being adopted can be a really touchy subject. I waited until I was well into my 20's before I made any attempt to find my biological mother and father. I have an excellent relationship with both my adopted parents and biological mother though, so it worked for me. My sister is adopted too, but when she searched, the results she got were apparantly so traumatic that to this day, she refuses to disclose what she learned.

Every situation is different. I think searching for your biological parents should be something one does only after much personal reflection and the knowledge that you may get lucky, you may not. A mature and level approach is best. You'll know if and when the time is right for you.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Phoenix Smile

I'm from Portugal here. As a good Portuguese, I've blood from all over. Swedish, English, French, Moor + Native Iberian I guess, I guess I've some western European jew blood somewhere. But I'm very much Portuguese, I haven't had people from anywhere else for some generations.

Well said! My mom had been looking for her biological mother for quite some time then gave up. Ironically, someone that worked with her made frequent trips to Alaska and returned one month saying she might have found my mom's brother and she had! It was crazy! We haven't met them yet but they email frequently but it did take my mom some time to adjust so it really is important to wait until the time is right for you. Smile

WOW we are so diverse! I'm so proud. Heart
